03/31/26 Trip to Italy, Day 8, Tuesday, Rome to Naples

We arrived in Naples by train. The train station was far enough away we had to taxi over to our airbnb. Oh my goodness...holy smokes...the way they drive in Naples is CRAZY!!! There are little motorcycles EVERYWHERE and they don't seem to follow any traffic laws. And the taxis are always gunning to get through the traffic and it's SCARY.  This is not a good place for the faint of heart or those that easily get anxious in vehicles! Our place was at the top of a steep hill. So everytime we went anywhere, coming back was all uphill!  We ate lunch at a cute little outside cafe…kinda freezing!! And raining…they had an awning. Becky was so happy cause she found gluten free calzone!! for only $5 euros!! And she got one for tomorrow too!! We walked to a castle that was closed for remodel. We walked up a very steep road and saw some shops and things. It’s crazy…cars and motorcycles come zipping up these tiny streets and you better watch out!! We picked up some crackers and cheese and a...

03/30/26 Trip to Italy, Day 7, Monday, Rome

We g ot up early and went to the Vatican for a 3 hr tour. The Sistine chapel, Vatican Museum and the Vatican. In order to try to save some steps, Andy and I took a hop on bus around the city. We got to the coliseum early and decided to walk around. The long way. Ended up taking more steps then if we would have just walked from the Vatican.  We did a three hour coliseum tour. By days end, Andy has over 29,000 steps, which equals 10 miles!  On the hill above the Colliseum On our way to the Colliseum Colliseum Colliseum Colliseum Colliseum Colliseum Winner for the best looking and tasting pasterie all trip!   Left Florence by train about 10:30 a.m. and arrived in Rome around noon. Seems that every place we go gets busier than the last!  We had lunch outside in the main downtown square that was busy with people. We found a church and watched a choir from California sing in the cathedral. It was a nice Sabbath Day activity amongst our travel.  We took a guided tour of the pantheon. Our AirBnb had plexiglass walls! And you could hear everything everywhere  And in Italy, 1st Floor = 2nd floor This apartment was on the 2nd and 3rd floor! haha This is how restaurants sell pizza by the slice.  Becky in Rome Andy in Rome Penne Pasta "I was trying to order a pizza."-- Shelly That said, this was delicious!
