05/04/10 Quick update to Dad

5/4/2010 LETTER TO DAD LAURITO Holly is having another dance Recital on May 15. AJ is completing his Associate Degree this week. Graduation is Friday but he decided not to participate.  Says he's going to do it again once or twice and this one isn't important to him. I got called to be assistant YW Camp Director.  So I get to go to camp next Month. Katie is getting over a little bout of the flu.  She missed school today. What's up in your world?  I keep thinking things will slow down but the summer seems to be filled with camps and things. We'll start AJ's mission papers this week after graduation.

8/21/10 Journal Entry - update on life

8/21/10 I haven't written in a journal for many years now.  I miss it.  Especially not bing able to look back at different times in my life. I am 41 years old now.  Where did the time go? Andy and I have been married 21 years. Aj has his mission call to Cauyan, Phillipines and is scheduled to leave October 27, 2010.  He will spend two months in the MTC in Provo and then fly out about December 31.   What a great way to start a new year/life for him.  Aj has grown so quickly.  He will turn 19 years old on August 28 - less than a week away. We had planned to get his endowments out for his birthday but found out the temple will be closed for two weeks to include that day for cleaning.  So it wont be his birthday but it won't be too long after that either. Aj has really made us proud.  He has always chosen good friends and activities.  He graduated with honors from Pine View High School in 2009 and then with his associate degree fro...

11/24/09 Dance, college, morning show, computer crash

11/24/2009 letter to Becky Things are also busy but good here.  Holly danced at the festival of trees last night (so cute!!).  I don't know if the pix came out but if they did I'll email you one. She will have a recital here in a week or two.  Katie will also have a piano recital.  The boys just finished their Eagle Scout projects last month and Dallas is totally done, Bryce can't be done until February ish. Aj's got a load of school going on -- he's carrying 17 credits, writing for the school paper, Service Club President, going to a student ward (how weird is that?!?) and working for the parks department and the radio station.   He was made Elder a week or two ago.   Don't see much of him.  Only know he is around cause he leaves his shoes out...which dRIVEs me CRaZy!!  (I usually return them to his pillow for him...fun games we play with each other, huh!?) Andy is doing his morning show from 7-8 a.m. everyday.  So ...

11/05/09 Aj's becoming an Elder & writing for the Des News

11/5/2009 LETTER TO DAD LAURITO Hey, how's it going?  Things are busy as always but good down here.  Aj is getting ordained an Elder on Sunday after stake conference.  You are welcome to come down for it if you'd like. Also Aj has been writing for the Dixie Sun (the student paper at Dixie College) and the Deseret News picked up his article and published it.  Here is a link: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705342315/Dixie-State-womenaposs-basketball-Focusing-on-title-hunt.html Cool, eh? Andy has football playoff games this week but we were lucky they are in Hurricane and St. George.  So no traveling required this weekend. Still coming down off the sugar from Halloweeen...the girls LOVED it. Not much else to report.  Love you lots. Shelly

12/20/08 He Has His Father's Eyes, Poem by Jean Griffin

He has His Father’s Eyes By Marva Jean Griffin Dec 20, 2008 I hold my newborn son so gently in my arms. And I tenderly caress His tiny form. His soft features, His tiny hands, I touch them with wonder. His soft brown hair, just enough there, and His long lashes Flutter as He sleeps and His mouth moves, and His chin trembles, As if He is anticipating the meal He will soon partake. I know He is perfect, so perfect. And I sit in awe of His miraculous birth. How could I be so blessed? As I look at his soft features, I realize this boy child is awake now and looking at me, His mother. How tiny He is, how beautiful He is And I know He has His Father’s eyes. My son grows and is strong—Soon He smiles and coos and laughs too. His tiny hands want to touch everything. He is such a good child! No murmuring sound He makes. I see Him watch and learn and grow. I see His Eyes that reflect eternity, and He has His Father’s eyes. Now my son is a young man – He’s grown so fast. He...

7/10/2008  BIG BEAR LAKE TRIP Relaxing after the mountain hike! We left on Bryce's birthday - Thursday, June 26 about 9:30 a.m.  We traveled to Las Vegas and stopped and had a breakfast buffet.  The kids stuffed themselves silly and with full bellies we continued on happily to California.  Everybody behaved pretty good and about 3 in the afternoon we arrived at our condo.  We checked in and went swimming and checked out the area.  We found a close grocery store and got some beef for grilling.  Andy made delicious steaks for us and we enjoyed a quiet evening at the condo. Dallas, Shelly, Aj, Holly, Katie & Bryce Selfie - family portrait outside our Condo Friday morning we declared it to be "Mountain Day."  We s...
