08/10/24 Zurich to Amsterdam to Las Vegas to home

We had an early wake up at 5 a.m. We were given some bagged breakfasts (which turns out were kinda horrible, but no big deal. We will end up having about 6 meals before we arrive home! haha)

We took a bus to the airport and were all settle in by about 7 a.m. Our flight was supposed to be 9:20 a.m. -  11 a.m. The connector was 12:30 p.m. -- which SHOULD be enough time to switch ... but they worried us a little. Our 9:20 didn't end up leaving until after 9:40 a.m. and then when we arrived we had to taxi awhile and it was about 11:30 a.m. when we finally landed. And we still had to get off the plane and go like 2 miles from the b-gate to the d-gate!  Lucky for us we had a handicapped motor coach -- seats 6 -- and they took us across the airport. Felt like it took FOREVER but it was fine!

On our flight from Zurich to Amsterdam the guy behind us had a mask on. And kept coughing. And then had a 10-sneeze sneezing fit. I thought we were doomed and would surely get sick!  But alas, we've been blessed.  As I write this it's a full week later and we had no ill effects from traveling!  Hallelujah!

By the time we got home it was 7:30 p.m. Utah time and we had once again traveled almost 24 hours from door step to door step.

What a wonderful experience! I feel like we were truly blessed from start to finish. Andy was able to do everything. His stomach never got sick from the antibiotics. He was tired but not so much that it stopped him. The weather was great all week. We had a little cloudy and a very little drizzle but mostly just perfect...if you don't mind a little (lot) of humidity!

Last week there were some major problems with flights and delays. I had several friends get grounded and wait for DAYS to get home...like 4 days!  So I felt very blessed to have our flights workout perfectly and without missed connections.

As we entered different areas people would say, oh we had such a storm yesterday. Or we had some of the excursions that got rained out or rained on...but we lucked out again and again with great weather!

And the people on the tour were so fun. We made so many new friends and just really enjoyed the experience. I'm so glad we went!

This guy behind us is who we're going to blame
if we get sick after this trip!

Wow that's a long flight!

11/09/24 The temple

St George Temple This morning I woke up early and continued to read "Your Endowment", a book Grandma Griffin gave me several years ago but that I never read cover to cover. It is of course, about the temple and the meaning behind the endowment and the other things we learn about in the temple. I'll be honest, a lot of it feels "over my head".  I am seeking to learn and know and understand more but I don't have a thorough understanding at this time.  Kathy and Steve Spring Yesterday I went to visit Kathy Spring. She worked at Washington City for many years and retired almost 3 years ago. We were good friends and she helped me in the court for quite awhile. Her husband died in January of 2020...looking back she is convinced it was covid but it was just before covid really became a thing. So it's not official. In about a years time she lost her Dad, her husband, her son and a grandson. Life was pretty rough when we were friends back then and I could see the...

10/06/24 Repairs, Funeral, Marathon, Retirement Party, Car Show, Murder Mystery, Dr Visits, Pets, Food & Church. O my!

Macy Bundy, Hudson Jones, Emily Francis It's been a wonderful, packed week with good stuff going on all around. Sunday during church I went to Andy's class for 1/2 of the second hour. The kids are nine and kind of a handful sometimes...but there was only three and they were pretty cute and fun. After Andy taught his class he went to Primary singing time and I went to the second half of a combined YW/YM class.  We had Sunday dinner with Randy & Kay, AJ, GPA, and us. Eldon and Diane are on an Elderhostel trip and will be gone for a couple Sundays with other responsibilities. Andy smoked drumsticks and I made homemade bread and cookies (both new recipes). All of our dinner was SO GOOD!!!!  Sometimes it just works, and this was one of those! YuM! Raspberry filled cookies Delicious homemade bread Bryce and Marlee and Mo left fairly early on Sunday morning. They went out to Enterprise to see her brother's kids in the primary program. They had lunch and then stopped at Holly a...

11/10/24 Election, 28 year Anniversary, 1 year Anniversary and a Sealing

Well I'm starting this early cause tomorrow morning I'm going walking extra early. But I'm still calling it 11/10.   I'm gonna run through this week and see if anything was exciting.  But first...this picture...It just kills me!  When church is just too much! Haha.  I think that was at youth conference a couple of years ago and I think it's one of the Francis boys...but I couldn't swear to it! I know you're not supposed to take pictures in the chapel.  But seriously...I couldn't resist! Speaking of the Francis family. Today at 2:30 p.m. at the Red Cliff's Temple, they sealed Laith to their family. Laith will make child # 10 (or 12?)  (And he is 10 years old).  Laith's mother died very unexpectedly within the last couple of years. Shortly thereafter his father was arrested and has been sentenced to spend the rest of his childhood and beyond (I don't know the # of years) in prison. He's a challenging child AND he got bumped around a little....
