07/10/08 Big Bear Lake Trip: What's up doc...flat tire!

7/10/2008  BIG BEAR LAKE TRIP Relaxing after the mountain hike! We left on Bryce's birthday - Thursday, June 26 about 9:30 a.m.  We traveled to Las Vegas and stopped and had a breakfast buffet.  The kids stuffed themselves silly and with full bellies we continued on happily to California.  Everybody behaved pretty good and about 3 in the afternoon we arrived at our condo.  We checked in and went swimming and checked out the area.  We found a close grocery store and got some beef for grilling.  Andy made delicious steaks for us and we enjoyed a quiet evening at the condo. Dallas, Shelly, Aj, Holly, Katie & Bryce Selfie - family portrait outside our Condo Friday morning we declared it to be "Mountain Day."  We s...

01/02/08 Trip home from Dad's & new job at church

1/2/2008 LETTER TO BECKY Our drive home was perfect -- we left dad's house at 10:30 p.m. Friday night.  The roads were clear -- just a little hint of snow through Santaquin and one other town where we were afraid it might get nasty and then it cleared right up again.  I think we made the right choice.  Ed and Wendy came home Sunday and it took them several hours more than they expected and it was yucky most of the way they said. We had no movies and no treats since it was so late and you know what...there was no mess in the car!  AMAZING!  The kids didn't necessarily sleep well (the girls were restless) but they slept in the next morning and we had a Saturday to do what needed to be done. Well I'm glad your ward reassignment seems to be working.  I had about 21 girls in my YW program and it was a good size.  Are they spread out evenly?  I had like all beehives, a couple of miamaids and like 2 inactive laurels. I guess y...

12/10/2007 THANK-A-TUDES 1. I didn't get ditched today (My walking partner started working until midnight and is unable to get up at 6 a.m. to walk many days now...but today she got up and we walked!!!!) 2. I can wear a sweater outside and not freeze. ( I love it here in the spring, fall and winter!) 3. Seeing the delight on my little girls faces as we plan their princess party for Friday this week.  (They are turning 4 and 6 this week and will have their first birthday party ever -- with friends) 4. Santa's lists can now be emailed by my pre-teens to "Mr. Santa" - what will they think of next???  We get full color pictures of what they want and can simply click a few buttons and what they want will come right to our door steps if we are wealthy enough!!!! 5. Memories of Saturday's dance recital - holy cow were those kids cute!  I'll have to send you a picture of my little ballerina's next time I write from home! 12/12/2007 THANK-A-TUDE 1....

09/24/07 Letter to Johnny on his mission

Hi Jonny!      How are things on the other side of the world?  It’s already tomorrow there too, huh.  That is so weird!  What season is it there now?  Is that screwed up too?     Things are about the same here.  Aj is working his tale off trying to pass all his classes and do football and work.  It’s good for him I guess…  He asked a girl to homecoming and we are anxiously awaiting a reply.  He says he’s ok if she says no because she was “Plan B.”  The girl he wanted to go with already had a date.  This will be his “first date” if she says yes.  Kind of scary to start SO BIG…I guess homecoming is an all day event now instead of just dinner and a dance…  Dallas has been camping and we had MAJOR rain – so he got to come home early and soaked.  Yuck.  That doesn’t even sound fun at all.    Bryce is anxiously awaiting his first camp out.  He is trying to g...

05/30/07 Letter to Rebecca Chase

I started writing you yesterday and got slammed and never did write.  So ... next school year we have AJ in High School --- a junior... holy crap I'm old...  And Dallas will be in 7th grade, Bryce in 6th grade at the intermediate school and Katie in Kindergarten at the Elementary.  The next year we'll have one in every school.  High, Middle, Intermediate and Elementary.  That ought to be fun. Katie is excited to start school but we are still waiting to find out if she'll go all day kindergarten or half day.  75% of the kids will be all day.  82% of the children requested all day.  So some children will not be all day.  They said they are trying to find the ones that "need" the most help.  Katie tested really well and probably doesn't "need" the all day...so we'll see.  One of my best friends is the all day kindergarten teacher and we wanted to be in her class though so we are fighting for her.  Bryce had her and did really ...
