06/30/17 Day One - Park City - Driving and Moochies

Life has been on super fast forward busy (even had a jury trial that went until late last night). So this morning we got up and packed up and headed to Park City for our annual family vacation.

We have a week reserved at Crestview Townhouse across from the Factory Outlet Malls through parkcityskiplaces.com.  I hunted and hunted for something we could afford and this place just came available two weeks ago so we snatched it up.  It is about 1200 square feet with a nice kitchen living room and a big loft where all the kids can sleep.  It has a queen, a twin and an air mattress along with lots of floor space if needed.
Anyway, we all got up and packed up our stuff -- we pack lightly and plan to do laundry half way so it doesn't take too long to pack. We also packed lots of food -- planning to just eat out one meal a day to save money. It was a trick getting the car loaded but we were able to get everything in the trunk of the 300!!!

Andy has been having some medical problems so he had a chiropractic adjustment at 11 a.m. and we headed out a little afternoon. The trip was pretty quiet - although I guess because it was a holiday weekend the traffic was pretty heavy.  We got up to Orem and went to Bryce and Marlee's place by UVU.  It was the girls first time to see it so everyone was pretty excited.  The girls to see it, B&M to show it off.

It's a cute place - split entry - with 2 B and 1b upstairs and a kitchen living room, laundry/bathroon down.  And lots of closets for storage.  And really close to UVU.  Bryce got a job at Bed, bath and beyond and he can walk to work and school.  Marlee is waiting to start at Macy's and it will also be within walking distance although for safety she may drive anyway.  But it's a great location for what they have planned the next three years (lots of school, some work!)
Once AJ was available we all piled in cars and headed up to Moochie's for dinner.  It is in Lehi and is a place Andy has been telling us about for a long time.  We all got yummy footlong sandwiches -- meatball, philly steak -- and split them up.  There was a guy playing country music on a guitar and singing country music while we ate.  It was a fun atmosphere and the food was really great too.  We sat around and talked and hung out for awhile until AJ had to head back.

We headed up the mountain and arrived at our Condo about 8:30 p.m. It felt like a long day by the time we arrived!

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

07/10/2025 Dad's Passing

Dad's stay at the care center ended up being 35 days. He had a care giver that really connected with him named Michael. Michael cared for him when he was living at home and then came out a couple of times to the care center before he died. He really appreciated those visits and lit up when Michael came to visit and help care for him. I'm thankful that I was able to see him the two weekends about two weeks before he died. He was still able to smile and sit and eat at that time. I'm so glad that Ruth and Becky were able to take the time and spend quite a bit of time with him the last couple of weeks before he died. His condition continued to deteriorate and it was not easy to see him that way and spend so much time there. But my sisters and Suzanne did what they could to make him comfortable at the end.  He was found dead in his bed on the morning of July 10. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you!

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )
