11/18/17 Volleyball

2017 6-8th Grade Volleyball Champs, WCCC Holly's team won the WCCC volleyball championship for 6-8th graders on Saturday.  When they arrived they were told they were 2nd place to another undefeated team.  One of the girls on the team had talked to the other team and knew that had lost at least one game.  Holly's team had also lost one game.  So they should have been tied.  Also somehow through a scheduling mess up these two teams had never played one another. SO they took this information to Daylemarie Eves and she went and checked her records.  She confirmed that the two teams were in fact tied and arranged for the girls to have an additional game Saturday between them and the other team. They had 2 sets already scheduled and now would need to do a third set.  The additional games were scheduled in between their other sets. So they played at 11:20 - and won two games very quickly to win the set.  Then they played the 1st place team. ...

11/16/17 Thought that really touched me

From my widowed friend's Facebook page: the relative of one of our members made this observation regarding the concept of two steps forward one step back. My husband's aunt sent this to me recently when I explained my life, since my husbands passing, often feels like a painful 2 steps forward and one discouraging step back.  With her permission I am sharing her loving response to me with you.  In seam stitch -- two stitches forward, one stitch back ''I was sewing some pajama pants for the grandkids the other day and decided to use a special stitch on the inseam, this seam sees a lot of stress and often rips out.   As I'm sewing using this special stitch, I realize the machine is literally going two stitches forward and one stitch back.   I don't particularly like this stitch, because it takes longer to sew, but it allows the material to stretch without the stitches breaking.  I kinda had an "ah ha" moment there, as I realized th...

11/16/17 Personal Thoughts

It's been about 8 months since I was called to be Relief Society President for our 9th ward.  It's really made me have to reach and grow and stretch in so many ways.  I have had to try to learn to be more outgoing and friendly.  To speak in front of others. To take charge. To be the boss.  To take the heat.  To listen and love and try to figure out all the sisters in our ward are (still working on figuring out who everyone is!!!)  I've questioned my worthiness.  My ability.  I've struggled!      During that time Andy has been experiencing some medical problems that have really been tough. We've spent several days in the hospital and many days of recovery and concern. Andy has struggled with getting his body to do what he wants it to.  And it's been difficult.  After his surgery October 3 this year his dr. put him in a neck brace and basically grounded him.  No bending, lifting, twisting.  ...

11/11/17 Veteran's Day Program

Every year for Veteran's Day the PVHS band puts on a program. We've been going to these for years. Katie performed on the saxophone to a pretty full house.  It was a nice evening.  Grandma Griffin joined us and loved it too.  It was cool to see the kids honoring those that served our country.  Pretty girl! Daddy and Katie Katie's straight back from the conductor.

11/08/17 Looking Good!

2016 Halloween - Before We had a couple of hours while the girls went to the Cedar City temple for an activity so we decided to go through Andy's closet and pull out all that doesn't fit.  Holy Smokes! Andy has worked really hard for the past few months and it really shows.  Hasn't had a Dr. Pepper since July 4, 2017.  Lots more he has give up.  But he looks great! The neck surgery is giving him some fatigue and discomfort and he can't wait for the 12 weeks to end so he can take off the awful neck brace.  (It did make a cool costume though!!!) 2017 Halloween - After Nice rear view! Front View... I think there is room for me to climb in there with ya! The massive pile of things that no longer fit in our life!
