11/16/17 Thought that really touched me

From my widowed friend's Facebook page: the relative of one of our members made this observation regarding the concept of two steps forward one step back.
My husband's aunt sent this to me recently when I explained my life, since my husbands passing, often feels like a painful 2 steps forward and one discouraging step back.  With her permission I am sharing her loving response to me with you.

In seam stitch -- two stitches forward, one stitch back
''I was sewing some pajama pants for the grandkids the other day and decided to use a special stitch on the inseam, this seam sees a lot of stress and often rips out.   As I'm sewing using this special stitch, I realize the machine is literally going two stitches forward and one stitch back.   I don't particularly like this stitch, because it takes longer to sew, but it allows the material to stretch without the stitches breaking.  I kinda had an "ah ha" moment there, as I realized that often in life we feel we are going two steps forward and one step back, usually through our toughest times.  What if that slow movement forward is allowing us to stretch without breaking us?   What if it's building something is us which allows for extra movement without damaging us?   It sure feels terribly slow going, but could be preparing us for greater things. Just a thought.''

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

10/10/95 Journal Entry - Still no house!!!! But feeling blessed

10/10/95 Still no house - maybe this week.  Haha. Money ran out of the last issue on the people right before us.  More money may come in at a lower rate.  We'll have to see. Dallas is really growing up in a hurry. He is crawling very well on his knees, standing up on things and moving while holding furniture.  He's been really fussy this past week.  Maybe a cold or teeth.  I don't know.  I held him on the coucn all night Saturday. he is really a mama's boy and cries when I leave or come in the room. AJ is also growing up fast.  He's so independent.  He knows what he wants and often gets it.  Saturday Gma and Gpa Griffin were leaving to go home and Aj said, "Where are you going?". Grandma says, "Home to Salt Lake City."  AJ says, "Ok, just a minute I'll get my shoes on!" He is a really good looking little boy.  I sure am lucky to have such a neat family. Andy's been busy training Dean Rock.  Last two weeks he do...
