05/20/12 Gpa L & Suzanne visit

5/20/12

Hey AJ!
It was so good to see you last week!  You look amazing and healthy and happy.  Always good to see!!!  I'm glad we aren't cry baby family...Cristy said Luke got on and started bawling like a baby and they just cried for over an hour.  Ugh.  I don't like crying!!!!  I miss you, but I don't want to cry about it!
I guess there is an eclipse tonight and the best place in the whole word to watch it...kanaraville Utah.  So we are having an eclipse party at the folks' place.  All the rest of the family is coming I guess.  Should be fun.
It's been an extremely busy week -- dad in SLC since Wed evening.  My dad and Suzanne came to visit M-F.  YW, YM.  Piano recital.  Powder puff derby (pinewood derby for girlscouts).  Katie got to go to jumping jacks for student council.  She also scored 100% on end of level testing.  The highest score in her whole grade, no one matched it.  She was pretty excited.  She is right now reading the Harry Potter books.  I think she just finished #4.  Seems to me this is about the same time of your life that you did that.  'Course there is now and book 5 and 6 out for her to tackle.  I don't remember those being out when you were a kid.  She has taken the AR tests and scored 100 % on those too.  She is pretty and smart.
Friday night there was a movie and dinner in the park.  We went to the elementary school and got hot dogs and doritos, water and cookies.  Afterward they gave everyone a bag of popcorn and put on some silly disney movie.  (I thought it was kind of lame but the girls enjoyed it).  Treasure buddies.  It was like Indiana Jones with dogs...???!!!  Whatever.  I sat on the grass shaking and shivering 'till I couldn't take it anymore and then went back to the car.  Turns out I could see/hear it just fine from there so I got a drive in movie for the end!
Dad and Suzanne took us out to Chuck - A - Rama Thursday night for my birthday.  It was pretty yummy.  The kids all ate plenty and enjoyed it.  (He actually took Katie and Holly there Wed night during YW/YM too, so they got to be little piggies 2 days in a row!)
Wed night we had a combined dinner.  The menu had strange things on it that you couldn't really decipher.  End up getting meals with strange cup and silverware combinations.  Funny.  Afterward there was a little talk about how life is sometimes like this meal.  You get what you don't want or in difficult to manage ways....and how do you react to it?  Do you complain?  Do you laugh?  Do you accomodate and deal with it?  Do you get mad and walk away?  It was a good lesson and a fun activity.
This week should be out of this world busy again.  Judge was out of town last week so that means extra busy Tuesday.  Wednesday we are having a camp meeting with parents.  Boys are playing for graduation this week and not doing much else.  Holly's luau is Wednesday. Dallas surgery Thursday.
On and on we go!
Well I hope you have had a great week.  Can't wait to hear about transfers and what fun things you are doing!

Take care and love you lots!!! xoxo

01/12/26 Just a couple of things going on

Every Monday night we do family night pizza. This has included Eldon and Diane for quite awhile now. They left on a round the world cruise and will be gone from January - May. So we sent them a pic of these two cuties and told them we missed them.  Found this fun scratch off -- you can mark everywhere you've been. We want to travel in our retirement and thought this would be a fun way to keep track of it. (We also have a world map but I think 1 on the wall is enough).  SO this is our little inspiration wall to remind us to get out and see the world! Holly painted this picture on her wall a couple of years ago. I added some words and music notes in vinyl to it. I'm working on turning her bedroom into my music sanctuary.  The WELCOME pineapple sign was starting to peel off. I took off all the vinyl and painted the words instead. Gave it a nice refresh! We signed up for classes at the college too -- currently we are taking World travel, AI (artificial intelligence), Aging an...

01/13/26 How Many Cookies?!?!?

I planned to visit Washington City and go to the ladies luncheon (they do it monthly on shut off day). I found a new recipe that included putting smashed pretzels in the mix. (I had smashed pretzel, cereal mixture leftover from Christmas).  The recipe said it would make 22 cookies. I figured I would triple it and have 66.  Welp...they must have been some BIG cookies they were making...cause I got 126 cookies!!!!  What the heck?! I backed 24 of them and put the rest in the freezer. Someone will have a nice treat another day!

08/23/25 Organ

The Washington First Ward Building was sold to the City of Washington. Part of my responsibilities included dispensing of the organ and pianos in the building (along with other things).  It is an Allen, approximately 1970s.  I put the organ up on the auction. There were a couple of other people that were bidding on it, but I ultimately won the bid (for under $100). On the day I won the bid I was able to arrange a mover!!! I paid $250 to have someone from the piano store move it to our house (I have no idea how he managed to get that into the back bedroom....but he did it!!!) Then, it wouldn't work. 😭 I waited for approximately 6 weeks before a guy (who had to be 80 years old) came down from SLC and repaired the organ. (So the organ wasn't actually broken, it had to do with the electricity and the house talking nicely to one another.) It took him a couple of hours to figure it out. He charged about $200 and voila! I have a working church organ.  Cool, eh?  Now, I got...
