08/31/14 Laurito's visit

8/31/2014

It's been a busy week as dad winds down his sports year.  He has been working super long days and getting very little sleep. I think 3.5 hours a night has been typical lately.  But I think he survived and can slow down a little bit now.

The girls have been busy too.  It's so weird to think in a week we'll be done with elementary school forever!  WOW.  We are getting old!

Grandma and pa Laurito came and have spent the week with us.  They got here Tuesday night and will leave tomorrow.  They have kind of been doing their own thing and us ours and then we have dinner and the evening together, maybe.

Friday Holly got a trophy for 2nd place in the science fair.  She sang so long, farewell with the choir and got to sing the last part solo.  (the sun, has gone to bed and so must I...goodbye...)  She was also recognized as getting the Eagle award (4 kids in the school so far have done it but they said 2 more are trying to get done and they will actually award the shirts and eagles next Thursday at 5th grade graduation.)

Saturday gma and pa Laurito and the girls and I went down to St. George and did the walking tour of Historic St. George.  We only did about 1/2 of it.  We went through the daughters of the Utah pioneers museum (grandpa bought taffy for the girls) and then through the Brigham Young house.  Afterward (about 2 hours of walking and museums) we went to iceburg and grandpa bought us milkshakes.  I thought the girls might be bored with it but they said they really enjoyed it.  And at dinner they were repeating a lot of the things we had learned from the tour guides so they were apparently paying attention!

Then we went to charming charlie's and had Suzanne pick out jewelry (2 necklaces) for mother's day and the girls picked out a head band and earrings and 4 bottles of nail polish.  They all loved it and it was under $16 for all the stuff.  You'll have to check that place out when you come home...great place to buy gifts for the women in your life!

Grandpa took us to Golden Corral for dinner ($86, OUCHY!) and it was pretty yummy.  Everyone was pretty starving by the time we went because we had eaten a late breakfast and then a milkshake but we never really had lunch and we didn't eat until about 7:30 p.m.  So it was probably even better than it really was, haha.

(Darin) Seminary graduation is today and Bryce Taylor's farewell and then (Darin) graduation later this week (the Taylor's have a LOT going on in their family!!! We got invited to all 3 events and afterparty's for them this week.

Anyway it's a busy time of the year -- I think I have 3 things I have to leave work for this week to go see the girls at school stuff.

Hope everything's going well and you are settling in and loving your new area.  Can't wait to hear all about it!

Love you!!!

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
