12/6/15 Basketball

Decorating Randy & Kay's house for their homecoming!

December 6, 2015
Well I survived playing the organ again last week.  I was actually a ton less nervous and it helped that hardly anybody was there.  I guess the Thanksgiving holiday had lots of people out of town.  It is getting easier as I keep trying. Who knows if or when I'll be up there again though.

We are transitioning from volleyball to basketball. So the girls are practicing basketball now.  They are pretty good little players.  Holly is almost as tall as Katie exactly.  I don't know when that happened but the coach pointed it out to me yesterday and I was shocked!  The two of them are the tallest girls on our city rec team.  They did great yesterday winning 19-10.  They were surprised, thought they were going to lose.  The team has three sets of sisters -- Coach Rolf's girls, the Aldridge girls and Katie and Holly.  There is also 3 other girls.  He wants to practice a couple nights a week so they will be busy with that through January.

Thursday night we had lil Jeffrey Binder come to dinner with Dallas and McKayla.  I guess Nicole went in for a dr. visit and he sent her to the hospital to have their baby.  So McKayla got to watch Jeffrey all afternoon and evening until Jeff's parents could drive here from California.  Probably 10 or midnight.  Little Jeffrey is the mellowest quietest kid ever.  He just hung out and was smiling and nice the whole time they were here. No fussing.  Not like you kids at all!  Haha.  She had baby Jacob Alan Binder about 2:30 Friday morning and he weighed about 6 lbs. (He was a little early).

Friday dad went to Richfield with Mike and Devon and did a tournament where there were like 8 basketball games in a row.  He broadcast 4 of them.  And then wrote up the games for stg news too.  They came home Saturday afternoon.

We got invited to the high priest social so we went to that last night.  They have much better food than the elder's quorum parties!  It was potluck and old people do much better than young people at the potluck thing!  We sat with Harrisons and Ohwilers and it was a nice evening.

The girls and I went to gma and pas while dad was gone and helped them make homecoming signs for Randy and Kay.  They should be back now from their mission (the couple grandpa baptized 40 years ago that bought they house by them).  It was fun making signs and banners. Then I took the girls to the bernina store because they were having a craft day.  Katie loved it.  They have embroidery machines for $19,000.  WOW.  There was nothing in that store I wanted to take home!  (I don't love sewing!) But Katie loved it so that was good!  Holly played with her twins and then had basketball practice while Katie babysat.  Saturday morning we hung up the signs and then I took the girls to McD's for free breakfast sandwich coupons (Yay!!) and walmart.  We did Saturday chores and basketball game and then dad was home.

So there ya have it.  Our week!  .

In my reading this week 2 Peter 1:2-10 stuck out at me. It lists qualities we should be trying to develop in ourselves in order to return to our heavenly father.

 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
So one final weird thing.  So Aunt Pat (uncle don) Bahr (she lived in Jersey when I was a girl but lives out here now, Dad's Mom's Brother's wife) said to tell you that if you run into Matt Zirker in Moscow Idaho to say hi because he served in NJ and was over there house all the time for dinner.  Zirker is the name of the Bishop that we knew and Dad was Matt's teacher's quorum advisor back in the day. What a small world!!!!

Love you!!!!

09/10/23 Hey, do you get to read letters on non-p day, p day?

First time trying a lime Pineapple was more pleasing than lime  Well...we went to Provo on Saturday and Sunday -- so your letter is a little later on Sunday than usual...but then I got to thinking...will you even get to see this before Thursday anyway?! So hopefully you're not sad that I'm late and all is well in CHILE.  It's a rainy sabbath here...which is weird cause we rarely get rain. But it is drizzly and rainy and our ride home was beautiful for 2 hours, raining for 1 1/2 hours, and then pretty good the rest of the way.  Let's see...what happened this week...Monday was Labor Day...so we had a day off work. Yeah!!!  We didn't have anywhere we needed to go and planned to have a quiet Monday but first, we went to this store called Sheridan's that is super close to our house. And we found some wonderful outdoor patio furniture. It took us 3 trips to get it all home and all afternoon to unpack and assemble it. So at 5:30, we were just finishing and kinda tired ...

11/09/24 The temple

St George Temple This morning I woke up early and continued to read "Your Endowment", a book Grandma Griffin gave me several years ago but that I never read cover to cover. It is of course, about the temple and the meaning behind the endowment and the other things we learn about in the temple. I'll be honest, a lot of it feels "over my head".  I am seeking to learn and know and understand more but I don't have a thorough understanding at this time.  Kathy and Steve Spring Yesterday I went to visit Kathy Spring. She worked at Washington City for many years and retired almost 3 years ago. We were good friends and she helped me in the court for quite awhile. Her husband died in January of 2020...looking back she is convinced it was covid but it was just before covid really became a thing. So it's not official. In about a years time she lost her Dad, her husband, her son and a grandson. Life was pretty rough when we were friends back then and I could see the...

10/15/23 Last Letter!

  Hey! Can you believe it?!  It's your last letter from home!!! This time next week you'll be one tired Hermana sitting in my kitchen with me!!!  What a week!  Monday was Columbus Day - so everybody had to work ('cept me!!!!) haha I stayed home and worked on projects. I took your car to the tire shop and had the tires inflated and then to Walmart and got an oil change then to the car wash and got the shebang inside and out and then brought it home and scrubbed it for a couple more hours. Wow, it was dirty and still isn't great! haha.  I also cleaned the pool and worked on the yard a bit and I don't even remember what else. I just remember I was super tired by day's end!  On Tuesday Emmalee came over and did Holly's hair and makeup. She looked really pretty. Afterward, we went to the Covington Home to take pictures. And the funny thing...it was decked out in Halloween decorations. NOOOOO!!!! So we found some areas and took some pictures and I think we got a ...
