07/08/22 Salt Lake City Family Vacation - BBQ, Tab Choir, Zoo, Top Golf, Cowabuga Bay, shopping

This year we decided to go to Salt Lake City and spend the week with the kids.

Bryce and Marlee came up from Provo and stayed at the Hilton Inn in Midvale with us. Holly and Erik drove up with us and stayed at Dallas and Kayla's house.

We put together an itinerary and assigned out meals and activities so everyone had an idea of what to expect each day.

We arrived Saturday evening and had a BBQ at Ruth's house with the Laurito's. Becky and Kevin and Syd and Gma and Gpa Laurito and Ruth and Eli came. We had our 10 so it was a pretty big crowd. Plus AJ & Becca (he left for Cancun on Monday so he missed most of our week).

Sunday Bryce and Marlee and Andy and I went to the tab choir performance and walked around temple square. As we were leaving Keith Davis (Andy's friend from high school) came up to us and asked Andy what his name was. Then said, do you remember me?! haha. It was so cool!!! They visited for a few and then arranged to get together later this week (which we did! -- in St. George). Such a great little blessing!

We played games and had a nice meal at Dallas house.

Monday we went to the West Jordan parade and watched from the beginning of the parade route. It was SO crowded!!! And pretty hot too. We stayed for an hour and then cut out a little early as everyone was getting a little restless! The parade was really great tho...just long! Afterward we went and played in Dallas' backyard with the sprinklers on and just ran around and had fun. Dallas smoked ribs for us so he was working on that all day. Once the kids were in bed we all sat around the fire pit and roasted marshmellows and ate smores.

Tuesday we went to the zoo and fed the giraffes and rode the carousel. We wanted to ride the train too but it was not working. Bummer! In the afternoon we decided to try top golf. It was right behind our hotel and half price on Tuesday's It was super fun! I think we all want to try that again! We had a really nice dinner at Italian Village Tuesday evening.

Wednesday we went to Cowabunga Bay Water park and enjoyed playing in the water for the 3.5 hour session. The kids went in and got a cabana too so we had a place to hang out and chill. It was a really fun session. In theevening after the kids were in bed we tie dyed shirts and hung around by the fire pit with smores again. Gpa and Gma Laurito came too and spent the evening with us.

Thursday morning Dallas and Bryce headed back to "real life". Erik & Holly and us started home but stopped at Sheels and got sneakers and then on to the liquidators and Trader Joe's for some shopping therapy. We got home about 6 p.m. After getting home I made some dried fruit (bought a dehydrator at Sheels) and rinsed our tie dye shirts. Sadly I put them in the sink and forgot to turn it off. Flooded the laundry room and out down the hallway. Keith called and wanted to go to ice cream. So we did...left the mess for a bit and then came home and had to suck up the water off the floor and clean until midnight. It actually came up better than expected!

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

07/10/2025 Dad's Passing

Dad's stay at the care center ended up being 35 days. He had a care giver that really connected with him named Michael. Michael cared for him when he was living at home and then came out a couple of times to the care center before he died. He really appreciated those visits and lit up when Michael came to visit and help care for him. I'm thankful that I was able to see him the two weekends about two weeks before he died. He was still able to smile and sit and eat at that time. I'm so glad that Ruth and Becky were able to take the time and spend quite a bit of time with him the last couple of weeks before he died. His condition continued to deteriorate and it was not easy to see him that way and spend so much time there. But my sisters and Suzanne did what they could to make him comfortable at the end.  He was found dead in his bed on the morning of July 10. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you!

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )
