6/16/04 Potty training, tight pants and fat guys pizza

Swim time Holly, Katie and Shelly 6/16/2004 LETTER TO BECKY Holly is getting around better everyday.  No more teeth but the one she has sure is cute.  She is also sleeping better at night.  Andy usually gets her once and then she wakes up between 6-7am.  Usually put her to bed between 10-11pm.  He says some nights he doesn’t have to get her at all.   Katie still isn’t potty trained but now she says, “mom, I’m peeing” as she wets her diaper.  She just doesn’t want to “go” potty.  Someone gave me pull-ups so she’s been wearing those and she can dress/undress all by herself.  I don’t know what the deal is.  Stickers and candy are no big deal to her.  I guess she’ll just start going when SHE feels like it! Story time, Shelly, Holly & Katie So are you guys still thinking of coming south or have you changed your minds?  Let me know if you are so I can check on room prices.   Work has been b...

01/01/04 Letter from Uncle Gary

Unknown Date Letter from Uncle Gary Dear Shelly, Andy and boys:  So, how is everything in Utah these days? We are doing pretty good for a couple of "getting older quickly" type folks. Your Grandma is about the same. She has her good days and bad days. The Alzheimers has really done a number on her mind. It is so sad and frustrating trying to spend time with her.  Sometimes it almost seems like she has reverted to another life form that is only interested in going to the bathroom, eating, sleeping and keeping warm. We try to keep her up to date with things going on in the family, but she is just not interested. All we can do, basically, is make sure she is safe and well-cared for.  Your Mother tells me that Ruth has found "Mr. Right"! It's about time! Your Mom tells me he passed your family's approval, so I guess he must be an alright "Mr. Right".  I don't want to sound like an old "foggy", but I hope she  doesn't ...

10/06/03 Letter to Griffin's on their mission in NJ

10/6/2003 Hello!  Sounds like your missions is going well so far.  They are keeping you very busy and you are getting to know the joy of NJ roadways.  I’m sure you are becoming all too familiar with toll roads too.  I hate those.  As a teenager I used to take all the back roads to avoid the tolls since I didn’t have any money! Things are still hectic here but it seems like they aren't as bad as they were.  AJ's football has settled down to just 2 or 3 nights a week and it seems like his coach is not keeping him as long when they practice either so it's been much better.  They've won every game so far.  So has Dallas' team.  Pretty lucky to be on good teams this year.   We took the cub scouts to Home Depot Saturday and made fire trucks for safety week.  It was a really good turn out.  All my boys came and they all had a parent.  Good thing because they were rather difficult projects and would have taken forever with...

03/31/03 When I was Little, By Dallas Griffin 2003

Guessing on date, but about 2003 probably is accurate Dallas published a book with pictures.  It is so cute!  Here is the text. When I was Little… By Dallas Griffin Dedicated to my dad, Andy Griffin When I was little I cried all the time, Now I never cry. When I was little I loved to hear my mom read stories to me, I still do. When I was little I used to spill snacks, Now I eat them. When I was little I used to put lipstick all over the counter, Now I clean up. When I was little I used to climb in my brother’s bed, drink his bottle, and fall asleep, Now I climb in my own top bunk to sleep. When I was little I used to play with tools, Now I use them to fix my bike. When I was little I was as big as my puzzle, Now I’m bigger than my puzzle! When I was little I used to bite every donut, Now I eat just one. When I was little I liked to get my hair cut, Now I don’t like it. When I was little I liked to relax and read the p...

06/04/02 Gossip Column

This was my attempt at making fun at my job.  My gossip column.  I only did it once because I was afraid people would recognize themselves and I'd get in trouble!    Justice?!     The month started out quite exciting with a trial on September 3,  State of Utah vs. B. P.  B. was charged with speeding on Telegraph road (which he DID NOT DO!!! He is a respected, retired Grandpa, he doesn't HAVE TO BE ANYWHERE in a hurry!!!).  He spent 40 minutes slandering Officer Kiwi’s good name before he was found guilty.       He even was successful in ruffling the feathers of our substitute prosecutor who told the defendant he didn’t feel bad about “wasting” his time as it was HIS fault we were all here in the first place.  If he would obey the speed limit and /or pay his violations once caught we could have avoided this whole fiasco.  The prosecutor later apologized to the judge for losing his cool.   ...

06/04/02 Letter to Stacy A

June 4, 2002 to Stacy A. Our little family has escaped the bad luck this go round.  We are all doing well.  Katie is 5 1/2 months and cute as can be.  She is starting to roll and sit's up if you get her there first.  She will probably crawl soon.  Bryce just graduated Kindergarten and really loved it.  Dallas just finished first grade.  Aj - 5th.  Are we getting old or what???   We are loving our home.  We moved to Washington City a year ago.  We have since poured a basketball court in the backyard and are in the midst of making a 2 car driveway.  It was one.  Now it's two and this week we will hopefully get a 2 car carport installed.  Our cars were so hot baking in the 110 degree sunshine everyday here!  So that is where the income tax refund went.   I walk to work everyday and I still really love my job.  They are taking good care of me.  They let me take Katie to work everyday still. ...

05/30/02 Letter from Deanna and to Deanna

05/30/02 Dear Shelly, Wednesday was a very bad, terrible, awful day - the tests themselves were not bad, but the stuff you have to take and have done to you prior to the actual tests are not so much fun...in fact, they are no fun at all.  The "sick feeling" doesn't just go away when the test is done...I still feel awful today. I had to drink barrium for 2 hours prior to the test...(CT Scan).  While drinking the stuff, they inserted an IV (2 sticks - the first one did not work), and then injected me with something for the Bone Scan...I had to wait extra long for the CT Scan and they used the IV to give me the contrast dye part way through the test...then I had to wait for the Bone Scan...it took a while to do.  For both tests, I had to lay on my back on a hard surface (I don't lay on my back even on a comfortable bed - so that was an ordeal). Diahrea set in somewhere in the middle of things from the liquid I was drinking.  Straining t...
