02/13/11 Grounded from mutual & strange traditions

2/13/11
Hi Aj!
It has been another crazy busy week but things are good.  I saw the stake president today and he was asking about you.  So was Brother Melessa.  I told them you were doing awesome and loving it.  So did you get transferred?
Do you read the lessons for Sunday school? This weeks lesson made me think of you. It was about the apostles going and serving the Lord and the blessings they would receive.  It talked about how they don't take anything with them and they will be provided.  It made me think of all the people that feed you each night and take care of your needs.  If you haven't read it you should.  I think it was lesson 5 or 6 out of the New Testament.
We had the worldwide training meeting last night and one thing that stuck out in my mind was "When you are about your Father's business, you can expect your father's blessings."  How cool is that?  Earlier I think it was said we had to ask for the blessings...so maybe there is some humbling necessary.  So don't be afraid to ask and then you can expect blessings!
Things are moving slowly with Fellicity's baptism.  She lives in the Buena Vista stake but comes to the Washington Stake.  From what I am hearing they want her to go to her bishop there (who she doesn't know) and perform the ordinance there and then go to that ward (which she doesn't want to do.)  We did get some Sister Missionaries -- which is AWESOME -- and they serve both Stakes so they will work things out I'm sure.
This week 4 of my non-member girls got "grounded from Mutual" for something they had done.  One of my member girls said she would be "ground if she DIDN'T go".  Ok, so it's punishment to NOT go if you are a non-member and punishment TO go if you are a member.  What is wrong with this picture?!
Cristy was saying that burials of dead people are very strange in KOREA where her son served.  She wondered if you had experienced any death yet and found any strange traditions?  She said they just had one box that they did the viewing in and then after the funeral they opened up the ground (where many people were burried), opened up the box, rolled out the dead person and closed up the ground.  The box was then taken back for use at the next funeral.  She said it TOTALLY freaked out her son when they went to a funeral and witnessed all this.
Loved your pictures.  Do you have some of the outside of your apartment and inside too?  It is hard to picture where you live and what it is like.  Does your apartment have a lock?  Have you had any problems with theft?

Well things are staying the same here...just busy busy.  We think of you and pray for you often.  Thank you for bringing blessings into our lives.  We love your letters and the stories you share.  Your letters are the greatest.  Keep up the good work!  Love the details of all that is going on with you.  Well I gotta run and get your 2 little sis' ready for church.  Please let us know if you need anything.

Love you lots!!!! Mom.

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
