06/28/15 Finally a slow week! (for the girls anyway)

06/28/15

Did you have a fun 19th birthday!  Did you do anything out of the ordinary or special? Did your box arrive from us and from Gma?

Bryce's 13th Birthday
Last Sunday we went to the homecoming of Devin Shelley.  There was so many people there -- the house was like standing room only.  Ugh!  Too many people for me!  He did a nice job on his talk and then we went to the house and she served KFC chicken since he went to Kentucky.  Cute, huh!?  We got to visit a little with their friends and then come home.  It is so hot that no one could even go outside.  Temps have been over 100 up to like 111 this week.  Bleh.  Makes you not want to do much of anything!

Katie went to the temple this week for YW and had a nice experience.  Our YW is pretty small and there aren't many kids but so far she still enjoys going.  A lot of kids quit going when they don't have a friend to latch on to.  Glad she isn't like that.

This week was trek for all the older kids.  It had to be super hot and kind of miserable.  If it is 111 here it's still probably 90 or high 80s in Cedar Mountain area. I haven't heard from anybody yet so I dunno.

We had our first kind of quiet week in a LONG time.  It was nice.  We have been so busy doing camps and wedding and stuff I just felt like we were always go go go.  We actually played some games this week and hung out.  Washed the van.

Bryce's 13th Birthday
The girls and I went to Joseph (a play at Brigham's playhouse that the Olsen Family and Marlee's dad are in).  I will have to go back because I couldn't stay awake.  We only stayed 1/2 -- the play is 3 hours total and after 1.5 hours the girls were done.  I think it had a good message and they enjoyed it.  Maybe we can catch the rest another time.

Afterward we went to the city pool and got there just in time for a poop break.  (someone messed in the pool).  Oh well.  Eventually they opened back up and the girls had fun.

We watched a Harry Potter movie and painted some birthday presents for some of my friends.

Dad and Dallas and Hoppie and his son picked up AJ and went to Ogden and back yesterday.  Getting home at 5:45 a.m.  And he still had to post stories and Dallas still had to put together the video.  I think it was 7 before he came to bed.  What?!  That's crazy.  10 hours of driving in 1 day and 3 hours of football.  I think those boys are gonna be tired this week!

I think we actually had a week with no pictures!

Thought for the day:
There are two ways to be happy:
Improve your reality or lower your expectations!

And a spiritual thought for the day:

"Make the Sabbath a delight by rendering service to others."
—Russell M. Nelson,
Love you Bryce!  Can't wait to hear from you and see your pictures and what's been going on this week! xoxo mom

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
