12/12/11 Flu and running out of gas...some days are like that!

12/12/11

Wow I can't believe it is Sunday again.  It has been such a busy week.  Kind of too much week, if you know what I mean!
Dad has been way too busy working on what might be the last issue of the mag if some $$ doesn't get "got" by the guys in charge of making the $$!  He has worked from early in the a.m. (radio show) until late into the night for many days.  So exhausting!
We have also been staying super busy at my work too.  Another Tuesday evening where we handled 68 cases and were at work until after 8 p.m.  After awhile you just feel kind of overwhelmed by it all!
YW is going well.  Had another good turnout (10 girls!!) Wednesday and 5 on Sunday.  Everyone seems to be getting more excited and more involved and it is good to see.  I sometimes am overwhelmed by all there is to do to keep things going but usually a good afternoon nap helps me get over my discouragement!  We are currently getting ready to play ward youth conference and girls camp so a busy summer awaits!
The BAHR family reunion is this summer again and it's Grandma's turn to be in charge.  We are going to capitol reef again so that will be great.  I really like it there. Hope to stay in the same place we stayed last time -- the little 2 bed house place.  Hoping we can get others to stay there too.  We'll see!
Bryce got up this a.m. and got dressed for church and came out in the kitchen and said, Dad, it kinda hurts right here...pointed to his chest area.  Saying his stomache felt a little funny.  Dad's like...do we have any pepto bismal or something. No.  While he's looking for it we hear that dreaded sound...BLAH...Yep.  The flu is back.  But on the bright side, he made the toilet!  Told him to take his clothes off and go back to bed!
Dallas was out working this a.m. and wasn't home yet at 8:45 either (I'm a little worried, since they usually handle sacrament, ya know?!)  He comes home shortly after saying he had gotten stuck out in the rain and his truck ran out of gas.  (The "indicator" light didn't come on... he says!!! We laugh, Dallas, it's an old truck, they don't HAVE indicator lights...you just have to look at the gauge!)  Anyway Dave tells him to walk to the next park (about 1 mile) and continue doing his work and he'll bring gas to him.  Dallas said he walked to the park and back before Dave arrived.  In the rain.  Yeah.  Good morning all in all for both boys, no?!
Some days are like that.
Well since Bryce's episode this a.m. we don't get to go to Gma's (they wouldn't want us this way).  So I gotta go make dinner now.  Gonna make some lasagne.  Should be good!
Hope you are doing great and still loving the work.  So proud of you.  Really enjoy reading about your mission.  Such an inspiration.  Keep it up!  Love you !!!! Mom.

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
