07/04/18 Fourth of July Water Fun!!!

This year for the fourth of July we stayed home -- we usually go to Park City however with Andy's recent surgery we felt like it was too soon to travel that far. We had a nice quiet day -- I did some yard work and wrote a talk for Sunday, everybody slept in and quietly hung out.

Around 2 p.m. Holly and I finished working on an ice cream cake we'd made for the party and then Andy and I went to the pool to walk laps. Andy's been doing that the last week trying to work out gently.  Katie was up working at the snack bar so we got to see her and we visited with the Carnevale family too.

At 4:30 p.m. we headed over to the Griffin's house and made sno cones and had sandwiches & chips.

Then we got out our 100 grenades -- green water balloons and the slip and slide, some cups and the hose.  And everyone had fun splashing and sliding and playing in the water. Grandpa Griffin especially loved it.  He looks forward to our annual water fights!

Since Andy was grounded we put him on a chair in the middle of all the chaos with a hose - so we was fair game to water down but he had ammunition too!!! He wasn't allowed to run and play though.  But I think he had a good time anyway!

After the wet down we all had ice cream cake and then headed home to dry off.

The girls came back and watched a movie with Gma and Gpa. Andy and I had a nice quiet evening at home.  A little after 10 p.m. the girls came back and Andy and I went for our nightly walk - 1 mile - and there was fireworks all around the area.

It was a fun day!

01/12/26 Just a couple of things going on

Every Monday night we do family night pizza. This has included Eldon and Diane for quite awhile now. They left on a round the world cruise and will be gone from January - May. So we sent them a pic of these two cuties and told them we missed them.  Found this fun scratch off -- you can mark everywhere you've been. We want to travel in our retirement and thought this would be a fun way to keep track of it. (We also have a world map but I think 1 on the wall is enough).  SO this is our little inspiration wall to remind us to get out and see the world! Holly painted this picture on her wall a couple of years ago. I added some words and music notes in vinyl to it. I'm working on turning her bedroom into my music sanctuary.  The WELCOME pineapple sign was starting to peel off. I took off all the vinyl and painted the words instead. Gave it a nice refresh! We signed up for classes at the college too -- currently we are taking World travel, AI (artificial intelligence), Aging an...

01/13/26 How Many Cookies?!?!?

I planned to visit Washington City and go to the ladies luncheon (they do it monthly on shut off day). I found a new recipe that included putting smashed pretzels in the mix. (I had smashed pretzel, cereal mixture leftover from Christmas).  The recipe said it would make 22 cookies. I figured I would triple it and have 66.  Welp...they must have been some BIG cookies they were making...cause I got 126 cookies!!!!  What the heck?! I backed 24 of them and put the rest in the freezer. Someone will have a nice treat another day!

08/23/25 Organ

The Washington First Ward Building was sold to the City of Washington. Part of my responsibilities included dispensing of the organ and pianos in the building (along with other things).  It is an Allen, approximately 1970s.  I put the organ up on the auction. There were a couple of other people that were bidding on it, but I ultimately won the bid (for under $100). On the day I won the bid I was able to arrange a mover!!! I paid $250 to have someone from the piano store move it to our house (I have no idea how he managed to get that into the back bedroom....but he did it!!!) Then, it wouldn't work. 😭 I waited for approximately 6 weeks before a guy (who had to be 80 years old) came down from SLC and repaired the organ. (So the organ wasn't actually broken, it had to do with the electricity and the house talking nicely to one another.) It took him a couple of hours to figure it out. He charged about $200 and voila! I have a working church organ.  Cool, eh?  Now, I got...
