I 'm gonna start backwards this week with today! Tongue and cheek tales of woe...meaning...it's a sad story but also not really. It's mostly funny.
Holly just texted me that the guy before her was "sick" and didn't do his portion of laundry at work today so she's got quite the pile to do. (picture attached). She asked if I wanted to come up and help her! (It's Sunday and we have company coming in a little bit but I'm considering it. I have off tomorrow and it would be fun to see my Holly Dolly. But I'd likely have to drive to Cedar and back alone because dad has to work in the morning and doesn't want to be out late.
Church was a little wacky today. Last week was general conference and they decided to make today fast Sunday...not a big deal, really. But then they also decided to switch all the classes to Sunday School instead of YW. Only we didn't know!!! So we had girls prepared to teach today and they couldn't since it was Sunday School. AND they are busy next week and out of town with family so they can't just do it next week instead! So now we have to find all new teachers for next week too!!!! Sigh!
ALSO...whenever there is fast Sunday there is no ward council meeting. Somehow I didn't get the memo on that either. SO I walked 2.7 miles to church to find it completely empty and closed. SO I sat down by the dumpster (I don't know why there?! haha) and ate my granola bar and yogurt and then walked 2.7 miles home. To find Dad wasn't feeling well and didn't go to church. (He switched medicines from his pramopaxil to stop the jumpy legs to gabapentin and the gaba isn't working well at all. So his legs jump and kick and keep him up all night. He switched Monday so we've had a really rough sleepless week!)
I enjoyed church anyway...my Paul and Nicole came and sat by me. I had the Amazon Christmas Catalog and they LOVED looking at the toys. (What kid doesn't love that? Seriously I remember looking at the Sears catalog when I was a kid!) About half way through I told them to start picking out what they thought the other one would like. It was so cute to see them seriously consider their sibling and then pick something. And then the other one's face would light up and say OH YES!!! I LOVE IT! Adorable!
I'm making bread and potato wedges for Sunday dinner and they look delicious. Dad's working on steak. Having Eldon and Diane and Gpa. E&D are then gone for several weeks.
We've had a really fun busy week -- Played pickleball Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesday there was a pretty big crowd and "extras". What that means is that 3 people sit every round. The people that sit are the ones that just won on the king's court. I figured out that if I won my first game and got to the second court and then lost every time I would never have to sit. So that's what I did.
Our 34th Anniversary was Tuesday. Dad was the emcee of the senior games pre-opening ceremony dinner. So he played music and talked and hung out from 5-7 p.m. There were about 1000 people there. They served icky hotdogs and chips so we didn't eat but then went over to Angelica's afterward for dinner. Everyone was like...oh that's such a bummer you have to work on your anniversary. I was like...what are you talking about?! They threw a party with 1000 people to celebrate us!!!! And there are fireworks afterward too!!! I'm including a picture of me and Mrs. Senior Universe. She is so tiny!!!!
Wednesday I went to the dr to get checked out cause I been feeling a little off. They ran a bunch of tests and the results are I'm going to die. Well, I mean we all are, eventually, right?! So, me too!! Just not any time soon. My hormone levels are low (menopause) and my sugars were slightly elevated. Dr. might put me on some meds to help with the first thing. I need to behave better on the second. Otherwise I'm fine. Just getting older.
We had a fun activity for YW/Primary Wednesday night - they did an indoor carnival and it was pretty well done. I had fasted all day and was so hungry I ate dinner and then two menchis ice creams before the activity. TWO!!! I never do that! It was 6-7:30 so that's why I could play pickleball afterward that evening!
Thursday Diane and I went to Lin's market and made freezer meals together with a group called citrus pear. They charge you a fee and then you assemble healthy dinner stuff. It was fun. We'll see if we like them and how far they go -- I may or may not do that again.
Friday I was supposed to take Sheryl out for her birthday and she cancelled an hour before. And asked me to reschedule 3 weeks from now. I was pretty frustrated. I had heated the pool all day and not arranged anything else. By telling me so late I didn't have time to find another activity. She said she didn't feel good (She's mad at her neighbor and it's making her sick). I'm trying to be understanding but I'm not gonna lie...I was kind of ticked off. The day before she had cancelled her food order from Walmart after calling me multiple times to set it up because she didn't have money. I told her I was not comfortable with fronting her money every month and she could only buy what she had money for. (Now this sounds very heartless and mean since I can very much afford to help her out...BUT she is sitting on a completely paid off home and two cars that she doesn't drive. A little refinancing and she would have more than enough money to last a lifetime and she won't do it. She just keeps having others assist her with no compensation crying poverty. But it's just not true!!!) I told her I would be happy to help her figure out how to access her money but I'm pretty sure she will never take me up on it. SOOOOO yeah. Sorry to unload on you on that one! I want to help and I'm happy to help but she makes it so. dang. hard!
So anyway! That's my tales of woe for the week! Honestly it was a really fast good week and it was fun to have interesting things to do each evening last week. And it felt good to get lots of walking in this morning too!
Can't wait to talk to you tomorrow. I'm off so let me know what time you'll call!!!
Pictures (not necessarily in order)
