Griffin Family

Today everyone left to go to class Except Hyrum. Sweet Dreams buddy! Monday was Veteran's Day.  A cool holiday because I get off work and everyone else goes to work. The kids go to school (I know I don't have any but still!).  I used to always go to the parade and hang out with the Binders or the Finks while my kids marched by in the band. But I had no kids in the band or for the side line. So I went to the Dr. I figured better to go on my day off then have to leave work early another day. The thing I didn't properly account for was that I wanted to do my blood test -- and you have to fast for that.  And my appointment was 11:30 a.m. And when I got to the lab about 12:30 p.m. IT WAS CROWDED!!! UGH!   (To get myself to 11:30 without eating I decided to work myself silly. I mopped and scrubbed and cleaned and did laundry and cleaned up the garage etc...for hours...I didn't sit down...and didn't look at food.)  So I ended up fasting for like 17.5 hours or more!!! N...

Well I'm starting this early cause tomorrow morning I'm going walking extra early. But I'm still calling it 11/10.   I'm gonna run through this week and see if anything was exciting.  But first...this picture...It just kills me!  When church is just too much! Haha.  I think that was at youth conference a couple of years ago and I think it's one of the Francis boys...but I couldn't swear to it! I know you're not supposed to take pictures in the chapel.  But seriously...I couldn't resist! Speaking of the Francis family. Today at 2:30 p.m. at the Red Cliff's Temple, they sealed Laith to their family. Laith will make child # 10 (or 12?)  (And he is 10 years old).  Laith's mother died very unexpectedly within the last couple of years. Shortly thereafter his father was arrested and has been sentenced to spend the rest of his childhood and beyond (I don't know the # of years) in prison. He's a challenging child AND he got bumped around a little....

St George Temple This morning I woke up early and continued to read "Your Endowment", a book Grandma Griffin gave me several years ago but that I never read cover to cover. It is of course, about the temple and the meaning behind the endowment and the other things we learn about in the temple. I'll be honest, a lot of it feels "over my head".  I am seeking to learn and know and understand more but I don't have a thorough understanding at this time.  Kathy and Steve Spring Yesterday I went to visit Kathy Spring. She worked at Washington City for many years and retired almost 3 years ago. We were good friends and she helped me in the court for quite awhile. Her husband died in January of 2020...looking back she is convinced it was covid but it was just before covid really became a thing. So it's not official.    Yesterday is the first day I've felt good in a long time! Seriously!  I hope whatever is going on has finally left me. We did our day backwards. Dad slept in and we skipped pickleball. When he got up he had breakfast and then carved a pumpkin which I processed. It took 2 hours! (I had done one Friday night, same...2 hours!!!)  So we have 17 bags of "2 cups" of pumpkin in the freezer. We have 2 more pumpkins but we both feel like we are DONE with the pumpkin thing!! haha   While he was working on that I made pumpkin pie and chocolate pie (from scratch...like no pudding!!!).  They both look yummy. We'll know at dinner tonight!   We've been having the most beautiful sunrises.  While I was doing my weight lifting I had to stop and go take a picture -- it was glowing red through the windows!!!  We had a quiet Saturday - I did some laundry and yard work -- trimmed up some trees and picked up debris (no more mowing for me!)     At 6 p.m...

Dj has been super cute lately when they FaceTime us.  He always gets really close to the camera and as soon as he seems me he says, "Read me a story, GiGi?, Read me a story?"  In his cute lil sweet 4 year old voice. He and Ellie love to snuggle up in their bed and listen to stories. This picture was our good bye at the end of our story time Sunday evening.  Monday night was just GPA G, Andy and me. Every year we paint pumpkins for Halloween for as long as I can remember. No kids this year but we still enjoyed painting our pumpkins! Me, Olivia Jones, and Mia Wilcox  It's weird how time is...seems to be fast then slow. Or go slow and pass quickly. It's hard to explain. But this week it felt like a regular week, kind of that wasn't too action packed!   Kisses from mo to pops  and back! Sunday we had E&D, AJ, GPA and us for dinner. E&D are heading out on a 10 day excursion with Elderhostel so we won't see them for the next Mon, Sun, Mon while they go touring So. Utah.  We just had AJ, GPA and us for dinner - so a little gathering -- at Slice House in the Zion Stip Mall. Quick and uneventful. Aj's been kind of bummed lately so he wasn't real talkative and didn't stay long.  Another week in the books - I really thought life would get slower once all the kids moved out but that is not the case! Staying busy and active and having fun and lots to do.  It was conference weekend and since we were so busy Saturday there was a lot of watching to do on Sunday. Somehow I did it though. I got through all the sessions! I often try to think of what word(s)/theme I'm hearing. This time it was come back...repent...forgive. It was a really enjoyable conference.  Sunday we had Randy and Kay, GPA, AJ, and us for dinner. E&D weren't back from conference yet. Made some chicken enchiladas with lime rice and they turned out yummy! Monday night picked up some Domino's pizza and E&D were back.
