08/16/15 School's back in session!

Holly and McKinley
Today is Shandon Lewis' farewell at 11 a.m.   So weird...you guys are all grown up now!  I still remember him as a shy quiet awkward little 10 year old.  Not so much now!  We are going to try to get to that...it's at 11 a.m.

Well the girls are back in school.  Holly started Fossil Ridge and she seems ok with everything.  Said she got lost a couple times but if she goes back to a certain point (the library for example) then she can figure out where to go to get to her next class.

Katie started at PVMS and also is having to figure out where everything is. Katie's A day has her running from one end of one hall to the other end of another and back again.  It's kind of crazy.  But her B day seems pretty easy...band room, gym, lunch room. So she'll get her work out on A days!

The girls have started piano again (they just took off a couple months in the summer) and we'll probably do city rec sports again.  They of course have YW and activity days.  Holly is going to finish out girl scouts this year (getting her silver award) and then they'll both be done with that by December.  So they'll have a few things to keep them busy.  Katie is going to do Jazz band.  I don't think either one will be in choir.

Dad did his big media day on Tuesday where he was on TV for 3 hours talking about all the teams and their upcoming seasons.  So he is just about ready to jump into being busy all the time.   Football games start this Saturday.

It's still pretty hot here -- just got back from a walk at 8:30 in the morning and I was just about sweating already.  Hopefully it cools down a little soon.  It's still about 100 every day during the hot part of the day.

Holly is going to sing I stand all amazed for the primary program with the Olsen twins.  At first she was really scared and didn't want to but she decided that she can do it and so now she's planning on it.  I have to figure out if I'm just going to play the hymn book version or try to find another version to play with them.  I think we have until October but I need to get practicing on it if it's difficult at all.

Dad's boss got arrested for DUI this week (Joyce) -- so that was kind of a surprise.  And Dallas had 2 of his coworkers arrested for drugs...they got fired.  Along with a third co-worker who didn't get arrested but tested dirty on the pee test.  Seems like there is a lot of crime around here lately.

Well I hope you had a great week -- excited to hear about it!

01/12/26 Just a couple of things going on

Every Monday night we do family night pizza. This has included Eldon and Diane for quite awhile now. They left on a round the world cruise and will be gone from January - May. So we sent them a pic of these two cuties and told them we missed them.  Found this fun scratch off -- you can mark everywhere you've been. We want to travel in our retirement and thought this would be a fun way to keep track of it. (We also have a world map but I think 1 on the wall is enough).  SO this is our little inspiration wall to remind us to get out and see the world! Holly painted this picture on her wall a couple of years ago. I added some words and music notes in vinyl to it. I'm working on turning her bedroom into my music sanctuary.  The WELCOME pineapple sign was starting to peel off. I took off all the vinyl and painted the words instead. Gave it a nice refresh! We signed up for classes at the college too -- currently we are taking World travel, AI (artificial intelligence), Aging an...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

01/13/26 How Many Cookies?!?!?

I planned to visit Washington City and go to the ladies luncheon (they do it monthly on shut off day). I found a new recipe that included putting smashed pretzels in the mix. (I had smashed pretzel, cereal mixture leftover from Christmas).  The recipe said it would make 22 cookies. I figured I would triple it and have 66.  Welp...they must have been some BIG cookies they were making...cause I got 126 cookies!!!!  What the heck?! I backed 24 of them and put the rest in the freezer. Someone will have a nice treat another day!
