07/04/17 Day Five - Fourth of July BBQs

July 4th turned out to be a super fun family filled day.

Started early with a BBQ at Eldon and Diane's house. All her kids and grandkids were there. Rachel and Seth (Duncan, Miranda, Drake, Evie); Marcus and Laura (Rodney & Persaeus (twins) and Enoch) and Johnny and Demas (Luke & Zara). AJ brought Marlee after he got off work about 1 p.m.) Bryce was still working and missed that BBQ. Marlee got to meet all the SL Griffin's for the first time.

Diane had quite the spread!! Hamburgers, hot dogs, skewers with meat, peanut sauce (Demas specialty); chips, fruit, beans...I know there was more!! Laura made a dulce de leche cake. Cupcakes...honestly there was TONS of food!)

Diane had the yard all set up with tables and chairs and an awning so it was still shady. (Started at 11 to beat the afternoon sunshine out!)

We were able to stay and visit with everyone until after 2 p.m. Then we headed over to Laurito's for a swim. Everyone was invited but only Marcus and family came -- they stayed a little more than an hour. But that was so fun!!! Ruth and her boys were already there. (Becky and family was headed to North Dakota and didn't join us).

All afternoon some visited inside, others played in the pool. Around 6:30 we cooked some hamburgers and hotdogs and had another BBQ on Laurito's back porch. (Dad had the porch redone and it is so great. Big awning, lots of seating by the pool. Really nice place for a dinner!)

The boys did a slurpee run before dinner and even Suzanne and Ray had one!

AJ is leaving on a trip to California so he headed home prior to dinner to do laundry and pack and get ready for his trip. B&M also headed home after dinner.

Leaving us with just the girls for the remainder of the trip (which is fun too!!!!) It's easier to spoil children when you don't have quite so many!

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides. We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more. Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north. Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby. Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us. Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. 10/10/95 Journal Entry - Still no house!!!! But feeling blessed

10/10/95 Still no house - maybe this week. Haha. Money ran out of the last issue on the people right before us. More money may come in at a lower rate. We'll have to see. Dallas is really growing up in a hurry. He is crawling very well on his knees, standing up on things and moving while holding furniture. He's been really fussy this past week. Maybe a cold or teeth. I don't know. I held him on the coucn all night Saturday. he is really a mama's boy and cries when I leave or come in the room. AJ is also growing up fast. He's so independent. He knows what he wants and often gets it. Saturday Gma and Gpa Griffin were leaving to go home and Aj said, "Where are you going?". Grandma says, "Home to Salt Lake City."
