07/19/17 Tijuana, Mexico

St George Express took us to Las Vegas, NV
Hi guys,

We are here in Tijuana. I have to say, it is very bizarre being such a minority and not being able to understand the bulk of what is being said.

So we got here this afternoon then right as we turned our phone on I had a text from our driver who said he would pick us up shortly. After about a half an hour he finally showed up and we drove with him down across the border which is this giant crazy madhouse mash up of cars and security guards in people and scary traffic.

Waiting in Las Vegas Airport
San Diego is beautiful, even at the airport
His name was Jack because his first name is really Daniel and all his friends call him Jack Daniels Ha ha ha. Anyway he took us straight to the hospital and they did bloodwork on me and he was kind of our liaison for a little while just because he spoke pretty decent English. After the blood work,  he drove us to our hotel where we are right now on the 10th floor Grand Tijuana hotel. But the bad thing was after we got checked in Jack left us and now we are completely on our own in this foreign land in this giant hotel, 32 stories by the way, and it's a little bit weird and scary and bizarre to be in this place.

It looks like they have a really nice pool and mom wants to go for a swim so we're going to head downstairs but I just wanted to let you guys know what was going on. We are supposed to meet downstairs at 10:30 AM tomorrow and then they will take us back to the hospital where they will prep me for surgery.

So I assume my surgery will be around 11 1130 and noon right in there tomorrow. Keep me in your prayers. I'm not going to lie, this is all a little bit scary, especially being here where I feel like a big old dummy. But mom and I are going to stick together and will get through this and see you guys in a few days.

Email if you need anything

Love ya tons, Pops

P.s. - got stuck in the elevator with some fat people. Remind me to tell you the story

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
