1/31/16 Pizza & Basketball

Cheerleaders at the girls' basketball game
Miranda Warby, McKenzie & Lauren Riley
This week Monday night pizza was at the Brick Oven.  Love the pizza but they are kinda pricey.  It was just the 5 of us (McKayla had to work) and Gma and Gpa were too tired to join us. Just a note...never sit between Dad and Dallas at a pizza joint that only has one pepper and Parmesan cheese container on the table.  They kept passing it back and forth over me until I was ready to smack 'em both!  They thought it was funny. #Never.doing.that.again! Haha.

Tuesday was way too long.  Got home about 8:30 p.m.  Makes for a nice Friday (usually!) but no so much the Tuesday!

Wednesday night the girls had basketball and the makeovers and pictures at YW.  They got their hair and makeup done really cute.  They had a nice time and now they want to wear makeup.  I guess it won't be long...they are getting older every day!  Dad worked Wednesday night and I was left all alone! I went to to costco and did some house cleaning.  Nothing exciting.  I'll be alone on Wednesday's unless they call me into YW or once sports season is over it will be just dad and me.  So strange having our family grow up!  Not used to quiet time!

Thursday the girls YW basketball season started and they won and had a nice time.  It's so nice to have them on the same teams and same activities right now!!!

Friday was like any other - got off early.  Had plans to run some errands and play pickleball and girls night/dad work.  Sent whole 'nother email about Friday.

Saturday we went to the dr and they checked out Dad's knee.  He has an MRI scheduled for next week as they think he may have torn some ligaments in our lil accident yesterday.  He has sore hips and neck and just over all achey-ness. I have been having some neck and shoulder pain for quite some time so I had the dr check me out also since I was already at the dr.  He said I have a trapezial strain and ordered rehab and anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxants.  We are both kind a sore and just trying to recuperate.

Well time to head to church so I gotta run!!

Spiritual thought for the week:
Katie really likes Helaman 5 and thinks you should read it.  Lehi and Nephi, Helaman's sons are becoming more righteous.  They convert most of the Lamanites in this one miracle. The Lamanites put them in prison.  Then they tried to burn them and they were standing in the middle of the fire but they weren't burned.

Peace, peace be unto you, because of your faith in my Well Beloved, who was from the foundation of the world.

Hope you have a great week!  We love you and miss you!  Thanks for being such a great example and wonderful son!!!! Love you!!! Mom

1/29/16 Motorcycle Accident

Shortly after the accident, Dad and Earl Peterson

Accident as Dad remembers it:
That dent is where Andy's head hit
We were going up Industrial Road past Kenworth and we were at about Burton Lumber where I could see a line of cars in the area of the gas station.  One car concerned me.  It was a white buick in the left turn lane.  It appeared that he was starting to turn.  So I slowed down.  He then stopped. I proceeded forward at a reduced speed, approx 25 mph when the driver of the white buick apparently changed his mind and continued his turn.

At that point we were so close I had no choice but to slam on my brakes and lay down the bike.  We tumbled to the right side of the bike and slid forward into the front passenger door of the buick.  I struck the buick first with my head and right shoulder when almost instantaneously the bike front tire also struck the car. Within a second or two I said get the bike off of me because it was on my leg.  My wife attempted to pick it up.  She then asked some bystanders to help and a couple of guys helped her pick the bike up and put the kickstand up.

I rolled onto my back assessing my own injuries.  A couple people asked me if I was ok including my wife.  I asked for help getting up and was assisted getting up.  I felt pain along my right side including my knee, shoulder, arm & hip.  None of it felt serious.

A couple of people wanted me to sit back down worried that I might have a concussion but I never lost consciousness or cognizance.

One gentleman called 911.  My wife offered our phone to him for use.

They told us to move the vehicles out of the roadway.  My wife decided we should take a couple of pictures first and then we moved the vehicles.  The driver of the buick, Earl Petersen, apologized several times stating that he never saw us and that he was looking at the gas pumps trying to find a spot.

Within a few minutes the police arrived and took our statements.

Mr. Petersen was cited for failure to yield on a left turn.

Upon inspection of my motorcycle I noted the front fender was dented in a couple of places and bent into the tire. I also noticed a few scrapes on the safety bars and a dent on the gas tank. There is also scrape on the right saddle bag.
This is what the accident scene looked like except
the bike was down on Andy

Accident as Mom remembers it:
On 1/29 about 1:30 p.m. we left home for a quick run to the Deseret Book to pickup our garments and then had planned a fun dinner with Gma and Gpa at Chili's followed by a pickleball game with the McCallisters.

Plans were cut short just 1 short mile from home.  We were traveling on Industrial drive toward St. George when a white car made a left turn (he was traveling the opposite direction) in front of us and  into our lane of travel.  We had nowhere to go.  He was just there.

The odd thing is that he seemed to hesitate just a moment like he saw us and was going to stop and then he just kept going.  Our motorcycle laid down on it's right side and Andy and the bike continued to slide right into the car (which was STILL proceeding forward!)  It was like he just didn't get it that he needed to STOP!

Andy skidded head first into the front passenger side door followed by his entire body and the motorcycle.

I am unclear what exactly happened to me.  I know I caught myself on my right hand as my wrist is sore.  I also know my right leg went down because there was some soreness and swelling there.  The thing that is weird is I also had a little goose egg on my left knee. So did I roll? What hit my left knee? It would have been on the other side of the bike and should have been clear of everything.

I was able to immediately jump up.  Andy and the bike were a little way ahead of me and I could see the bike laying on top of him.  So my first thing was to run over and grab the bike and try with all my might to lift that thing.  I was able to take some pressure off but I couldn't get the bike righted.  Fortunately several people (maybe 3 guys) came running to assist.  I said, Can someone please help me with this bike?!  And two of them came and picked it up the rest of the way and put it on it's kickstand.

Earl Kent Petersen is the name of the man that hit us.  He is an older gentleman.  He got out of his car and came around and asked if we were ok and apologized.  Said he never even saw us.

Add caption
Which makes all the rest of everything make a little more sense.  Like how he kept moving even as Andy was coming into his car.

He apologized several times and was very polite.

He did mention that he had messed up his shoulders in an accident and had been in 4 prior accidents.  Hmmm.  Little problem driver waiting to happen.

Several of the guys that came over helped Andy to sit up and then stand up and shake off the accident.

On the surface we seemed to come out of this accident pretty well.  I had a couple little goose eggs and a sore wrist.  Andy had road rash on his right knee and elbow.  However he had pain in his hip where he landed and as the night went on his knee felt like he tore a ligament or something.

Sleeping was pretty rough. For me I fell asleep right away and slept for several hours but when I woke up everything hurt.  I felt like a rag doll that had been thrown around.  All through the remainder of the night as I would turn over everything just ached.  From my neck to my shoulder to my wrist to my legs.

I can't speak for Andy but he was moaning every time he moved during the night too.  So I think he would report the same only worse as his injuries are worse than mine.

We will see how we feel today and decide if we are going to the dr. or if we just have to heal from our little spill.

Insurance trading information sheet
I feel so lucky and blessed.  We laid down our motorcycle and slid into a car and our clothes didn't even rip.  I was wearing my protective jacket and boots but my jeans didn't even get a tiny hole in them.  Andy was wearing a long sleeved jacket and jeans and while he got road rash under the clothing, nothing ripped.

We feel like we were being protected and feel very lucky and blessed to have been in an accident and for it to end so well.

Just hope that there aren't any hidden injuries lurking.  Hope that we just need a couple of days to get over the impact of it.

Heavenly Father loves us and took care of us yesterday I am sure and I am so grateful.

01/24/16 MLK holiday & Dad becomes a high priest

Girls digging into leftovers...gross!
Katie at the beginning of Cardiac Arrest hike
or Heart Attack hill as we like to call it!
I'm kinda backwards today! Usually I write you early in the morning but today got away so it's 8 p.m.

It's been a good week - seems like it went pretty quickly.

Monday was Martin Luther King day.  Dad had to work the better part of the day so me and the girls got the twins and Miranda Warby and hiked cardiac hill. It is the hike over by Coral Canyon that goes from the bottom of Coral Canyon up to Highland park.  It's pretty steep and not too long a hike.  Maybe 2 mile round trip.  But the views are great (course we could have just driven to that view, but whatever!!!)

Tuesday was a little busier and longer than anticipated so I missed everything going on here and didn't get home until 8:30 p.m.  We handled 66 cases in my session and I think they had 19 cases in the inmate session.

Holly, twins and Miranda Warby
Wednesday the girls had basketball and YW so I went with Dad to Desert Hills and was his stat girl while he broadcast the game.  The game was against Dixie and it was pretty exciting.  Dixie won which was a little upset and surprise but it was a great game. Also loved the dancing girls at half time.  (Jacey Shelley is one of the girls so I got to see Julene & Richard too!! Bonus!)

Thursday Dad had to record his show and they were running late so the girls and I hung out at home while he went and got stuff done.

Happy girls about 1/2 way up the hill
Friday we got to go to Texas Roadhouse with gma and gpa.  Which was great.  Great food, great company.  We tried to hide the leftover ribs under some onion rings which I thought no one liked.  I'll be danged if Holly doesn't like onion rings now and she found our hidden treasure and her and Katie ate it.  Wah!!!!! Next time I'm gonna have to cover them in lettuce!  haha.

After Dad went to work Friday AJ came down from Provo and we went to the temple and did my brother's work for him. Worked out super because Saturday night Kennedy got out her endowments and AJ went to that and finished the job!  Go AJ!!!!  Pretty speedy from start to finish on David's work!  We got ice cream cones on the way home.  It was a nice evening.

Saturday morning we got up and went to Elephant's Arch hike over by redcliffs.  There is a new community going in over there so we had a heck of a time finding the access to the trails.  We ended up parking extra .6 miles from the trail head and then hiking in.  The hike was supposed to only be 2.5 miles each way for a total of 5 miles.  However when we got in we took a trail down instead of up the hill we were supposed to.  We were seriously...right.there.  But instead we ended up walking another couple miles before we got back to the trail and found some people to show us where we should have gone.  So we ended up walking 6.5 miles or more.  My GPS said 6.5, AJ's said 8+.  Course he ran up the side of a few more mountains than I did so they are probably both right!  It was fun and tiring!!

Katie at the top!
Saturday afternoon Dad had stake leadership meeting and then we had evening session.  We went to dinner in between but only had about 30 minutes so we went to McD's for a quick bite to eat. Not our favorite but it was quick.

Sunday morning we went at 9 a.m. and had choir practice and then sat up in the front for stake conference and all of us sang with the choir.  Cept AJ who had to sit in the back by his lonesome.

After church Dad got set apart as a high priest by his Dad and it was a beautiful blessing.  Wish we could have recorded it because it is so hard to remember what was said!  After the blessing Randy and Kay, Gma and Gpa, the Taylor's, Dallas & McK, and us came back and had sandwiches and chips for lunch.  It was a nice day.

Aj gave me a 3 hour IQ test this weekend so we had lots of quality time together, haha!  And now he knows how dumb/smart I am.  It would be fun to give him one back!

Cardiac Hill ends at Highland park, could have driven there!
haha!!! It was a fun hike!
Aj was supposed to have a ride to go back up to Provo at 6 p.m. but he could not get hold of her.  He had just about decided to drive the van up to Provo and then see if he could sell it when she FINALLY called.  So about 6:45 we took him over to the Maverick to meet the girl and get his ride home.  On the bright side I cleaned the van out really nice and got rid of some junk that's been in there forever!

So it's about bed time and everybody is chilling out and getting ready for next week.

Trying to think if there was anything spectacular from stake conference...nothing jumping out at me.  Our G.A. was C. Scott Grow...funny name, huh?!  (Oh, and fun little bit of trivia...he was born in Moscow, Idaho!)  He was very friendly.  And he kept calling people up out of the audience and we were SO happy NOT to be in the 8th ward.  Last night he made the whole ward council come up and be on the stand for about 20 minutes.  Maybe longer...if we'd have been in that ward doing what we used to do we would have BOTH been up there!!!!

Anyway today I think his talk basically said we all need to do what we know we should be doing.  Praying.  Reading our Scriptures.  Going to church. &  Hastening the work (Missionary work).

Another lil thought:
Alma 13:5 -- the bishop was reading that and Dad's name kept popping into his head..that's why he referred Dad to be a high priest, because the scripture was about Dad.

Well this letter went on a bit didn't it!  Hope you are doing great!! Can't wait to hear about you and all that's going on!
XOXO mom

Here is the arch we were searching for!

AJ, twins and Holly in the arch

Whew!  Heading home!

AJ captured this photo of elephant's arch with his phone

Selfie coming out of the temple Friday night
Not best picture ever but you can see we were happy!

1/17/16 Back in the swing of things

Beautiful Sunset seen from our front porch
Feels like we are back in the swing of things after the holidays.  Back to the grind.  Back in our routine.

Last Sunday night we had a birthday party for Wendy.  Her family, Ben & Laura, Gma and Gpa and us.  Over a Gma's house.  She likes soup so we had a soup party.  Laura brought southwest soup, Gma made chicken noodle with fat noodles and dad made chili.  We had breadsticks and salad.  It was yummy and fun.

Abby is sure growing up.  She is so tiny.  Skinny.  And pretty.  And she has a sweet personality too.  Very likable.  She has said she wants to get together with the girls and do a make-up party.  They haven't done it yet but I think your sisters would enjoy it!

Monday night Dallas and McK were busy so we just had the 4 of us for pizza night.  We made pizza on buns.  They were pretty good.  Guess we'll be seeing less of them as McK's schedule has changed.  She got a job in the hospital as a psych tech --- Her shift is supposed to be from 6 p.m. - 6 a.m. 4 days a week.  She works in the psychiatric unit (a lockdown unit) over in town at the old hospital.  She is also going to school.  So she is super busy for awhile!
Cheese stuffed pretzels...yumm!

Tuesday I was still paying for the holidays and didn't get home until 8:30 p.m. Bleh.  That is a long day!

Wednesday the girls had YW starting at 6 p.m. And Dad was working covering a game on the radio.  So I went to the family history library and met Marlee.  I had the missionary man help me figure out how to make my stuff work and then spent a little over an hour doing some of the things that he showed me.  It was pretty interesting.  Marleee came over after I'd been there a little while and we talked a little.  I guess Tuesday she got word that she can't go out on the mission until April now and she just doesn't know what to do.  She is so unclear as to what will happen (extend her mission due to late departure -- which might mess up her scholarship and make it longer till she see's you).  She also doesn't know if she'll for sure go where they originally assigned, or go somewhere else.  Or if she should do a local mission.  Or just what!  I think she was overwhelmed.  I'm not sure I was any help but we talked a little while and she decided she needs to find out some more (she had an appointment with the Bishop coming up I think) and then pray and see if she can figure out what feels right.  Hard decisions.  Sometimes the path we should take is unclear.  She'll get it though.

Thursday night the girls and Dad and I went to a girl's game at PVHS.  Snow Canyon beat them but we had a nice evening out together.

Friday night the girls had basketball practice.  Dad and I went to Ricardo's (Mexican restaurant) with Gma and Gpa and then Dad went to work and the Riley girls came over until practice.  We made cheese stuffed pretzels - they were pretty yummy!!! The girls played at the park and had fun.

Saturday they lost their game -- the other team had 3 border league girls on it and they were all better than our best player on our team.  Oh well.  They stayed in there.  Lost like 30 - 20 or something.  Could have been worse!

We had a nice quiet evening.  Watched BYU basketball (another loss).  Week of losing!  Then we made cheese dip and played games.  We mopped and cleaned up while dad posted his game in between things.  We made homemade ice cream too.  It was pretty rich.

And here it is Sunday again already!

Mint chocolate chip cookies
We were having a little squabble about who's turn it was to clean the bathrooms upstairs (they always say they did it last week).  So I decided to assign them every other week and program it in my phone so they can't say it's not their week anymore.  Anyway the calendar lets you pick how long you want it to continue with that "event". So I picked 5 years...do you realize how different life will be in 5 years?!  Katie will be 19!!!!! Probably not even living at home anymore.  Holly 17.  Holy smokes!  Better savor these last days with my girls at home.

I'm still missing my boy family!!!!!  I didn't realize how hard it would be to have you all grow up and move out!  Sigh.  Part of growing up for me too I guess!

Quote of the week:
Life can not give me joy and peace, it is up to me to will it.
Life just gives me time and space, it is up to me to fill it.
--William James

Hope you are filling your days with joy and peace and that you are happy.  Think of you often and pray for you and miss you!!!!

Hope your temple trip is great this week.  (I printed my brother's work out so we are going to get his work done soon, hopefully).  Nice job on uploading the pix and stuff for his page.  It was the best one out there.  Nobody else seems to have taken the time to do stuff like that with the people I looked at.

Love you!  Mom

01/10/16 Back to School

Dallas and dad enjoying some silly time -- Happy Baby!
Busy week as the kids jumped back into school and activities full speed ahead.

Sunday of course we went to gma and gpa Griffin's for dinner. Randy and Kay Phillips have been joining us (you will love them!) and Dallas and Mck.  It's a nice group.  Gma made cheesy enchiladas (you should make those, super easy and delicious)  Afterward we sat around and talked about spiritual experiences from missions and stuff.  It was a nice evening.

Monday was the girls last day of freedom.  I had to work and dad had work to do too so the girls just played and did their thing while we did ours!

Girls in action
Tuesday is the beginning of jazz band every day (instead of every other day) so mornings are hectic as I try to go from the gym (5:45-6:45) then come home and start getting ready.  7:05 leave to take Katie and her friend Adeline to Jazz band.  Come back about 7:25 and finish getting ready and be to work by 8 a.m.  I even fit in getting gas one morning and shopping at Albertson's another and folding a load of laundry the other day.  Needless to say I'm getting good at getting ready fast!

Holly has decided she likes singing (she's done a couple of songs with a small group in sacrament meeting and at a stake primary leadership meeting now ) so she will start taking voice lessons from Dawn Wright in addition to her piano lessons. She is good and very brave!  She doesn't seem to mind getting up in front of the crowds!

Katie playing defense
Wednesday was my quarterly ladies luncheon with Cristy, Marilyn and Carla.  We went to Chili's -- the only place they will go -- and had a nice visit.  Carla is 70 years old now but still acts and seems younger to me!  She is funny.  Marilyn it 66, Cristy 56 and I am 46.  Weird that we are all 10 years apart!  It's fun to get together and catch up on everyone and their family since we don't get to see each other too often and just visit!

The girls have basketball practice and then YW on Wednesday evenings.  The last couple of weeks it has been nice.  Gives me and dad an evening to hang out -- like a mid week date!  We've gotten shopping done or watched a favorite show or whatever.  Unfortunately dad will be going to games in the future so I'll have to either go to games or have evenings all alone!

Holly's open!

We continue to play pickleball with the McCallisters and really enjoy it.  They are so nice and fun to hang out with.  Everybody is pretty mellow and the match ups are fun.  Dad is way better than us and Nancy is pretty awesome too.  Russ and me usually compete for the worst player of the day but I usually win.  But it's fun anyway!

Katie did the honors band thing this week all day Friday and Saturday and then concert last night.  So that's kept us busy running her to Dixie College. I was really impressed with the quality of the music.  They gave those kids some hard music and they sounded great!

Friday Jared Turner got married to Cassidy Jones of Leeds, and we were able to attend the reception. It was pretty packed.  Nikki is 17 now and she looked gorgeous!  Fellicity was there too and she also is very pretty.  I can't believe how they have grown up.  Katie enjoyed hanging with Cami and Ashley.  We saw the Scott's and the Condie's.  We had to get the girls to practice for basketball so we didn't stay long but it was nice to visit with old friends.

Adam and Tess Buatte got sealed in the temple yesterday morning.  I really loved their ceremony.  Their sealer was David Garner ( I think?!) and he did such a good job.  He told them there are four things they learn in the temple.  The first is the law of obedience and sacrifice.  The second the law of the gospel.  The third the law of chastity and the fourth the law of consecration.  He then went on to explain a little bit about each portion and what is required of us to follow that law.

Then he talked to them about only having eyes for one another and building each other up and being the best cheerleader ever for each other.

Cami, Ashley and Katie catching up!
He went on to talk about multiplying and replenishing the earth and how important our posterity is.  He talked about this for a long time.  Adam and Tess have had miscarriage after miscarriage and have been unable to have children so far (5 years now I think).  So I'm sure Tess was a little tender about the subject. The sealer asked her how many children they would have and she said, well it depends on the first.  (I think he took that to mean -- if the first was naughty maybe she wouldn't have any more -- everybody laughed) (I took it to mean -- if they can even get one...you know -- they've been trying so hard and not had success yet.  I think she'd love to have kids!).

This was our last weekend with Dad home so next week things will get even more busy!

Overall it's been a hectic week but really good.  I really enjoyed the temple and felt like I learned something.  I enjoyed the peace and quiet of the morning -- even for only an hour.

A couple of quotes from my book Latter-day mornings

"Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day."
"God does not begin by asking our ability, only our availability, and if we prove our dependability, He will increase our capability." Neal Maxwell
"If you want to stand out, don't sleep in."
Cami, Ashley and Katie

I hope that you are doing well.  I understand you got some comfy shoes this week.  That should help make the days better!  Nothing like some hush puppies, huh?!  Look forward to you letter and pictures every week!

You are such a great example to us all.  We love you!!!! Love, mom.

01/03/16 Happy New Year!

Andy, Katie and Julene rocking out on New Year's Eve
Loving playing the guitar!
Well we are all turned around.  After quite awhile on 1:00 p.m. church (at least 2 years now, maybe longer) we have moved to the 9 a.m. church.  I think I'll like it again once I get used to it but for now my routine is all messed up!

I got released from primary pianist and put in as relief society pianist.  I have to get used to going to classes and learning in church too! No more playing around in primary for me!

We've had a nice relaxing week with the girls out of school, dad working less and me taking off 1/2 day Wed, all day Thur and Friday.  AJ spent Christmas and the early part of this week with us.

We had the Greeley's over on Monday night for homemade pizza. It's been forever since we've seen them and it was so good to get together with them again.  The pizza's were yummy and we had a nice visit.  Aj, Dallas and McKayla were around too so it was like a party!

Tuesday I worked but all the attorney's took the night off and most of the people didn't want to bother with court over the holiday's either.  So we had a very light night (home by 7 p.m.) but I expect next week will be crazy busy nuts!

Wednesday the girls had basketball practice and young women's.  While they were there we took dinner to the sister missionaries from our stake.  They get their dinner delivered to the visitor center and don't have to eat with the families.  Afterward Dad and I went out to Paula's for a mid-week date and then to the temple and did sealings with Ben and Laura, Wendy and Eddy and Nick and Ann.  We went and had a shake at Larson's frost stop afterward.  It was nice.

AJ headed up to home 2 p.m. and had to go through the beginning of a yucky storm.  Luckily he left early enough that it wasn't the worst of the storm but he probably should have left an hour or two earlier to miss the snow altogether.  Bad time a year to travel between SLC and St. G.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday Dad and I met the McCallister's at the new pickeball courts down at Sullivan park and played pickleball for 1 - 1 1/2 hours each time.  We are a pretty good match up and they are fun so we keep joining them.

For New Year's eve we were pretty quiet and mellow.  Julene Shelley came over and played rock band with us.  Katie went to her first dance ever!!!! (Stake Dance at Ivins Stake Center).  She went with Emmalee Wright and they had fun.  Emmalee said it was the best ever attended dance she'd been to.  (And she's 17!)  The girls had a great time and Katie can't wait for her next dance. No one asked her to dance but she did dance 2 slow dances I think she said.  After rockband those of us at home played table games (golf, bounce-off) and ate treats and hung out.  After awhile Julene's kids Devon and his fiance and Jenna joined us and played too.  They left about 11:15 to pickup Richard from work.  At midnight we all drove across town to pickup Katie and Emmalee.  So we ended up staying up to 1 p.m.  Pretty late for me!
Enjoying the song!
We got some yard work and house work done -- Christmas cleaned up and put away etc. Friday and Saturday.  The girls helped gma and pa with their tree too.

Saturday Dad and I went to Ninja with gma and gpa and had the hibachi grill dinner.  It was very fancy.  The dude cooks your meal in front of you.  Throws shrimp in your mouth (if you want).  Lights little volcano of fire on the grill.  The food was great and the "show" was pretty fun too!

I'm still working on figuring things out for SUU for ya.  I haven't been able to reach anyone at Pine View HS to find out what AP classes you got credit for.  The SUU guy got back to me with a bunch of questions but I can't answer him until your counselor calls me.  They start back to school Tuesday so hopefully they will get back to me soon!

Marlee is coming for dinner tonight at Gma and Gpas.  Still no word for her when things will happen.  She's much better at being patient then I am.  She hasn't complained or anything about not knowing what's going on.

Rocking out!
I'm currently reading a book called Latter-day Saint Mornings.  It talks about establishing a routine in the morning to help you to invite the spirit into your life and set the tone for your day.  I'm really enjoying it and will probably incorporate some of the ideas into my own morning routine.  Here is the quote of the week from that book:

Holly and Jenna Shelley
“What happens in the first hours of the morning will mark your day, will mark your week, will mark your mission, will mark your life.”
-Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

Can't wait to hear about your new family ward and how you spent your New Year's.  Hope all is well in Moscow!  Love you!!!! Mom
