06/26/22 Quiet week here in St. George

Haven't heard from you all week which I'm going to take as a good sign. I hope all is well there and you're fitting in, finding joy in your journey, working hard and loving every minute of it. Or something close to that anyway! haha. Look forward to hearing from you tomorrow!

It seems like this week went really really fast! I had off on Monday for Juneteenth day.  A new holiday. Nobody else did so I got to spend a good portion of the day alone. I had the Finks over for a swim and while we were swimming I got word that our cabin in Oakely wasn't going to work out. And sadly Dallas and I had just spent 2 hours on the phone figuring out what we were going to do for family vacation. Sigh.

So I called Holly and she figured out a way to get us a couple of discounted rooms at the Hilton Inn in Midvale. So our new plan is that we are going to get rooms for B&M and me and Dad and Holly and Erik are going to stay over at D&K. Very sweet of her to not get a room herself. But she is only allowed to get 2 rooms at a time or something of the sort.

Now we are going to do SLC based stuff instead of mountain/park city stuff. It should be really fun. Dallas house will be our base camp. I'm working on finding some crafts to do (Holly really wanted to do tie dye shirts so we have that) and I'm still trying to figure out another cute thing or two.

Tuesday dad had a respiratory test where they do all these breathing tests on him to see if he is fine or not. He hasn't had any problems at all...this is purely based on his mother's history and seeing if that is something he will have to combat in his future life. Seemed like he did pretty well on the tests. We have an appointment to see a dr next week who should be able to tell us what they found out.

YW this week we did a gift basket for a family in our ward who had a baby 6 weeks early who has spinabifida (spine protrudes outside of the back - I looked it up and I've never seen anything like it. Poor guy)  They anticipate he will be in the hospital for the rest of the summer. He seems to be doing well (all things considered) but they have a long hard summer ahead of them.

Thursday night dad and I went to costco together and then grabbed a slice for dinner. Afterward we went to Bahama Bucks and got a icee and played connect 4...they have a whole bunch of games in their lobby!!!

Friday we went to dinner with Eldon and Diane and Grandpa to Texas Roadhouse. Not our best experience ever -- it was noisy and squishy -- but delicious as always anyway!

Holly came and spent the day Saturday by herself. We went to shopping together (joann's, target, 5 and below and then angelicas).  We picked out all the stuff for the tie dye and then got dinner to bring home and share with dad. We swam and played a little bit and then she headed back up the hill.

Dad and I had a Root for Kids Gala event (basically it's super pricey to go to the event...$125/each seat and then they ask for money all night...silent auctions, regular auctions, raffle tickets, drinks, just flat out asking for money.)  It's actually kind of amazing that they can get people to go at all! haha. But it is for a good cause so maybe that's what keeps people coming. In 2020 they made $68K in one evening so they are definitely good at the money grab game!  Last night's event was sold out.

Today is Bryce's birthday - Jun 26 - and so far a pretty quiet Sunday. Hope all is well with you!!! Love you lots!

06/19/22 Just a regular week

Another week has quickly passed. Hopefully it's been a good one for you!

We had a fun youth activity last week. They played pudding pictionary. Kind of cool, kind of disgusting!!!  They gave them church words and they competed to draw the picture and get their team to guess it. Afterward they played a video.

Monday we had dinner with Gpa and Eldon and Diane. We got papa John's and brought it back to Gpa's house.

Tuesday dad got checked up again by the vein dr and given the all clear. He still has to get some kind of machine for his leg to help with the lymphodema. Bleh. I guess it's nice that a machine can do it. When my mom had that she had to have ladies come over and massage her arm 3X a week.

Relief Society was Tuesday evening and we made emergency kits to put in the car. Kinda like in a pickle pack on steroids.  Got to hang out with some fun ladies and eat treats.

Dad and I got covid booster shot on Tuesday and by Wednesday I had a 101 fever and just felt kinda blah for about 2 days afterward. It was lake day for YW though so I took some tylenol and just kept going.  I wasn't gonna miss that! haha.

We had a nice time at the lake -- they had about 7 kayaks and some tubes along with hot dogs and watermelon. Nothing amazing food wise but lots of fun.

Thursday evening we went to Rib and Chop with dad's friend Ike and his wife. They treated us because Dad got him some account that was going to give him lots of commissions.

I finished up with my health coach. I lost maybe 6 pounds in 6 months. So slow. But she taught me some good strategies and hopefully I can keep trying and lose a little bit more weight.

Holly was supposed to come down Saturday but she didn't feel well so she stayed home. Neal and Cheryl came for dinner tho along with Gpa and we had a really nice time. Neal was in a wheel chair and is starting to say some things that don't make sense but overall it was good to have them.

Today everyone was somewhere else. Gpa to Lauras. All the kids were at home. So we had Randy and Kay over and had a nice dinner just the four of us.

We thought we might get to hear from you today but it's getting late so we're thinking not.
Hope your day was great!

Tell me about your week!  How's the food? How's the weather? Are you getting the language?   How much money do they give you and how often? Are you finding it is enough? Were you ever able to get the tag off your coat? Can't wait to hear from you!

We love you lots!

06/12/2022 Hot week!

It was good to talk to you last week and know that you arrived safely. I think I was a little stressed about it but didn't realized until I heard from you and I got less stressed! ðŸ˜‚
Dad seems to finally have fought off his most recent infection and is doing well and seems to be improving. Yeah!!!! Hopefully he can keep it up!
At work we interviewed and hired a new gal for the prosecution. I really like her and have heard great things about her and am excited to have her move over to our staff!  She has a better job at her current employment but it is harder and she has a young family so I think she will really like this change.
Dad spent the week getting ready for the cash/cruise get away for work. The party was Saturday morning. We had pizza and donuts and soda. It was SO HOT!  Like 106. Oy! We were VERY toasty!  This cute lil old 86 year old lady won and she was adorable. She is a widow so she will likely take her kids with her if she gets to use it.
We had Mindy and Darrin (the lady that took my job in the court) over for dinner and it was fun. Dad smoked meat (of course!!) and we had some yummy sides. It was a nice meal and they are a super cool couple.
Bryce and Marlee came to town and hung out with us -- swam and went to the HOT party. Marlee had a reception for a HS friend so they went to that Saturday. Holly, Erik, Bryce, Marlee, Gpa, Eldon, Diane and me and dad had Sunday dinner together.
We have some new leaders for YW/YM activities and they are doing a really good job. They did pudding pictionary and then showed a little movie What hatchet covers are keeping you from reaching your full potential? -- found on LDS website. HIGHLY recommend! It was an excellent activity.
Anywho...I just got distracted for 1/2 hour with YW stuff! 😂
Hope you are having a great time! Love you!❤ Love you!❤

06/07/22 Twin's Birthday Party

Well...Well...you should be in CHILE now!!!!! And probably EXHAUSTED! I hope your trip was good and all is well. I've been thinking of you all the time and wondering how you are doing!

What's up this week here...
We went to SLC and enjoyed the twin's birthday party and hung with Bryce and Marlee a bit too. It was a pretty quick trip up and back although due to dad's leg we stopped a couple of times so getting and coming back took a little longer than usual. But it was nice.

YW are going to camp this week and I'm not. Still super sad about that but I guess that's what the Stake wanted. YW leaders were not invited.  So I'm trying to find things to distract so I'm not too bummed.

We went to dinner with GPA to pieology last night. Eldon and Diane are still working through COVID. Bleh!

I sold the truck and got you off insurance. Today I'll take you off the phone.

I sold the truck to a coworker and now I'm regretting it. Nothing has happened yet...but she's already called and questioned me about repairs and is acting weird about things. The truck hasn't had any problems for 6 months but prior to that it had three repairs in about 8 months that were pricey...she's questioning if it will have issues again. And truthfully -- I dunno...but it's a 2002 with 215K miles so it's probably gonna have some problems. Sigh.  I don't want her unhappy with us but it feels like she's going to be. I had a bunch of other people lined up to buy it because we put it out for a really good price and now I'm regretting selling it to someone I know. I just hope it works good for awhile so she doesn't get mad and hold a grudge! Sigh Sigh Sigh. UGH.

Advice: Only say positive things. DON’T say…”I can’t sleep!”

Affirm: Say “I sleep peacefully, I wake up rested!”

Tune in - figure out negative emotions and then release them.

Put issues in a “box” and leave it for God for the night and worry about it tomorrow. (Seriously...write it down and put it in a box!!!)

Release - Be calm and relax

You've got tons of excitement and new things which is scary. Try to look for the positive and enjoy the good bad and ugly that comes your way. We are all praying for your success and happiness. Love you!!!

Look forward to hearing about your adventure from Mexico to Chile and beyond!
xoxo
