12/01/04 Letter to Griffin's on mission in NJ, approx date

12/01/04
Hi Guys!

Hope you are well.  Andy was just complaining last night that he hadn't heard from you in awhile.  I asked if he'd written you and he said no that was my job - he send pictures, I write letters.  I said well no wonder you haven't written - I haven't written and it's probably my turn!!!

So I thought I'd take a minute and type as fast as I can and tell you what's up here in hopes that you'll write your son!!!

Everybody is staying extremely busy.  AJ came home with all A's and 1 B+ (in Gym class of all things).  We are very proud of him.  He is doing very well with the Tuba, playing basketball and seems to maybe have a candle lit under him about scouts - we'll see.  He is a little behind in scouts but has a list and seems to care about getting caught up with the other kids.  Football season put him behind.

Dallas is still doing choir and basketball.  His team has had a rough go of it this time around.  They haven't won a game yet.  After being on a football team that won all but the final round.  He seems to just enjoy playing and getting a treat.

Bryce is just busy being Bryce.  Yesterday I went out side to find him screaming - pull the lever, pull the lever.  He was pushing with all his little boy might on the back of our neighbor's station wagon trying to keep if from rolling off their driveway.  I guess the little guys had gotten in and pulled it out of gear.  Needless to say he got to come in and "think" about why we shouldn't play in cars and especially why we shouldn't get behind them and stop them when we only weigh 60 or 70 lbs!
He will always keep us guessing!

Katie is a stubborn little sole.  Sweet but stubborn.  She had a little temper fit and hit and kicked Holly.  She got her first spanking -which she wasn't too happy about.  We told her she was punished until she apologized.  Took the sweet thing 50 minutes to say Sorry Holly and kiss her.  She hasn't been mean to her again thank goodness.

Holly loves to be held and all the time.  She has done pretty well coming to work.  She has started to kind of hold her head up and look around.  She has a "colicy" streak some evenings.  One lasted 1 hr 45 minutes Tuesday night.  I was frazzled but somehow we both survived.

My work has absolutely slammed me lately - our work load has increased considerably - looks like it started in October going back over the old monthly reports.  I am having a hard time keeping up even with all the help my coworkers are giving me.  This week we had 2 1/2 hours of court on Tuesday night and a jury trial tonight.  So much for maternity leave!

Andy is keeping busy with sports.  He has high school games on Wednesday and College Friday and Saturday.  He saved his last bail bond - kept saying someone he knew was going to need it.  They did and it was a big one - so we have a little more money coming in before that dries up.  It may work out but it'll probably be a month or so before it is all fixed.  So for now there will be no more bail bonds.  Andy got a little raise with the radio station so that is something!

Well time is running out so I better run.

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

07/10/2025 Dad's Passing

Dad's stay at the care center ended up being 35 days. He had a care giver that really connected with him named Michael. Michael cared for him when he was living at home and then came out a couple of times to the care center before he died. He really appreciated those visits and lit up when Michael came to visit and help care for him. I'm thankful that I was able to see him the two weekends about two weeks before he died. He was still able to smile and sit and eat at that time. I'm so glad that Ruth and Becky were able to take the time and spend quite a bit of time with him the last couple of weeks before he died. His condition continued to deteriorate and it was not easy to see him that way and spend so much time there. But my sisters and Suzanne did what they could to make him comfortable at the end.  He was found dead in his bed on the morning of July 10. Rest in peace, Dad. I love you!

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )
