09/02/12 New ward, new calling!

9/2/12

Hi AJ!

How was your birthday?  I thought of you on your birthday...I had court until late so I didn't do any celebrating.  I can't believe my baby is 21 years old already!  Where did the time go?  Seriously, it went fast!  You've made me proud!  I couldn't have asked for a better son!

Seems like we are so busy lately that I can't remember what we did from one day to the next or what week it is or anything.  I hope it will slow down a little now that I am out of YW, but to be honest with the moving I haven't really felt a slow down yet!

I got called in the to the Bishop's office and got a calling already!  I am Holly's 8 year old teacher in Sunday school/ primary on Sunday and then I'll do activity days during the week every other week.  Right now they are doing activity days on Tuesday which will have to change if I am going to participate.  They do it at 5:30 - 6:30 on Tuesday's right now -- which is about the worst time we can get and not going to work.  From what I have heard there is a lady filling in for the regular girl next week and then the regular lady should be back.

We found some bedroom furniture for us this week which we ordered and hope will be here sometime this coming week.  We got a call that our living room sectional will be in on Wednesday.  We have great big empty rooms right now!  We've been sleeping on our mattress on the floor since we've moved in.  Dad hates it.  It's a long way up in the morning for him!

Friday night I sold concessions for the band at the PV football game.  Katie and Holly came and helped.  We sold pizza, candy bars, soda, gatorade, nachos and hot dogs.  It was really hot!  I think the band did pretty good.  The boys helped bring stuff back and forth from the band room.

Saturday grandma had everyone over (Wendy and family, Ben and Laura, and us) to pick plums and make jam.  We made some really good jam and then had dinner together.  It was a nice day.

Grandma and Grandpa are on their way to a 10 day trip for Elderhostel.  Grandma just had her battery replaced on her pace-maker this week.  They had to open her up.  Pull out the old pace maker and stick in a new one.  She is recovering pretty well.  She has a big scar on her upper right shoulder/chest area.

Taylor's homecoming Sunday is 2 weeks from today.  He comes home in 10 days -- next Wednesday.  Wow that is quick!  Pretty exciting.

One of the missionaries we are working with is also heading out in 10 days.  Dallas is working with them tonight from 7-9.  I am glad they keep pulling him in with them.  He really needs that!  He is an awesome kid but I worry that he'll get pulled into the world -- with his g-friend and work etc.  I hope that he will start feeling a part of our new YM...so far the boys aren't feeling too happy about it.  Of course, they were "it" in the old ward and were pretty loved and important.  It takes a little time to feel part of things again.

Our new ward seems to have quite a bit of sickness and hardship.  We have a young mother with cancer.  A another young mother that just underwent brain surgery.  Lots of old people with all kids of ailments.  Everyone seems very loving and nice though.

Well, take care of yourself and keep up the good work.  Endure to the end!  You've done awesome and we are proud of you.  I know that it is because of you that I have made some good changes in my life.  Hopefully I will continue.  I tell myself if my son can serve the Lord 24/7, surely I can do _________.  And I've been having a better attitude and working harder doing whatever I'm asked to do.  I also have been reading BoM every day and enjoying that too.  So thanks for your great example and hard work.

We love you lots!!!!  Gonna go play dominos now for our Sunday night activity.  (Went to Gma and pa's yesterday so we are home tonight).

Love you!!! MOM

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
