05/21/18 Blessing

Katie, Anna & Brian Carnevale

Monday night prior to surgery we had a nice family dinner with Gma and Gpa Griffin, Eldon and Diane, Katie and Holly and us (Andy and Shelly). We had pizza and salad and Aunt Diane brought costco muffins (yummy!!!)
It was so fun to relax and hang out with our family.
After dinner the Carnevale family came over. We had a short lesson about priesthood blessings and how you can get multiple blessings for different reasons. How a father might bless his son with different blessings than a bishop, stake president or home teacher.
After our short lesson President Carnevale and Gpa Griffin gave dad a blessing prior to his back surgery scheduled for the next morning. The blessing was beautiful and told Andy that he would be safe and well and be able to return to his duties as a father and in the church.  That his mission here wasn't finished and he still had many things to do.
He blessed the drs that they would be guided and watched as they performed the surgery and that all would go well.  It was a very comforting and beautiful blessing.
The kids had muffins and milk for dessert afterward.
Then we went down to Sullivan Park and played late pickle ball with Russ and Nancy McAllister.  They were very sweet and came down late to play just because it was Andy's last night and they love him that much!  They even let him win our final set. (although they really fought for it!)
It was a fun way to spend our final evening before a scary surgery!

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
