11/17/24 Veteran's Day

Today everyone left to go to class
Except Hyrum. Sweet Dreams buddy!
Monday was Veteran's Day.  A cool holiday because I get off work and everyone else goes to work. The kids go to school (I know I don't have any but still!).  I used to always go to the parade and hang out with the Binders or the Finks while my kids marched by in the band. But I had no kids in the band or for the side line. So I went to the Dr. I figured better to go on my day off then have to leave work early another day. The thing I didn't properly account for was that I wanted to do my blood test -- and you have to fast for that.  And my appointment was 11:30 a.m. And when I got to the lab about 12:30 p.m. IT WAS CROWDED!!! UGH!

(To get myself to 11:30 without eating I decided to work myself silly. I mopped and scrubbed and cleaned and did laundry and cleaned up the garage etc...for hours...I didn't sit down...and didn't look at food.)

So I ended up fasting for like 17.5 hours or more!!! Needless to say I went right from the Dr. office to Jersey Mike's and ate my sandwich in the parking lot before I went to Ace Hardware. Weird, right?!

The girls stole my phone...
this is what they did with it! (cute, huh?!)

I have been feeling ick the last month so I thought maybe the dr could tell me what was up.  (It was my annual exam so I go every year).  But as always, it was the take a couple Tylenol. You're fine!  Which I guess is great but also...why have I felt so blah lately?!  SO I guess I'll just try to eat right and take care of myself and keep telling myself...I'm Fine!

Sandy Casey had a heart ablation this week -- her heartbeat is irregular so they went in and did some dusting and cleaning on her valves. It is an outpatient procedure that is supposed to not be too big a deal. She said her heart went kind a lou-lou while she was on the table and the dr was kind of freaked out but she settled down and they got her put back together and out the same day, as planned. I took a treat over Wednesday night but she wasn't home or didn't answer the door.

Also had YW on Wednesday night - we made rolls with the YW at Eardley's house. It was actually well attended (we had 9 girls!! and 5 adults!) YEAH!!! Glad they all came out. I think we might be at the in-between time where some of the activities are taking a break.

Thursday night we played pickleball with our friends Rae and Solo. It's starting to get dark and cold early so it was a little hard to see and chilly out there!  And we went at 5 p.m. We might have to start playing indoors!

Friday dad had off of work -- football season for him is officially over. (Crimson Cliffs is still going but his radio group got cut out of going to SLC. ) We went to dinner at a new place called Village Baker with Gpa and then had a quiet night at home. We played some games and hung out.

This is how you know your YW love you!
Saturday we played pickleball and then dad hit the wall. He came home and slept for 3 hours. I went hot tubbing alone because he was too tired to come out and I wanted to enjoy the sunshine while it lasted. After he woke up we went and got gas, ate at Don Pedros (alone-- we hardly ever go out all alone!) and then to Walmart to pickup an order. He got to watch BYU basketball (they won) and BYU football (they lost but only by a couple super late in the game) so he was pretty happy with his sports quota for the day.

Today we had church -- and last night we got a text that we had to stay after to meet with the bishop.  Uh-oh, right?  It was our 3rd Sunday leadership meeting - we met and at the end he talked to everyone for 20 minutes. I thought that was it...but we had to go get more talking to from 11 to 11:20. YW program is kind of a mess right now. (Mostly the older girls) - but in all honesty all the girls are a little tough. I have girls that won't talk to other girls. And a real variety of popular, athletic, geek, smart, on and on.  Like they just haven't meshed well. And I have some girls that just don't come. So we got lectured and told we need to try harder. Sigh. I mean...I guess...I agree...but also you can't make em. They gotta wanna. And I can only do so much. So I'm trying to have a good attitude about it (and I don't even think it was necessarily aimed at me in particular anyway...which might be part of the problem...I can't see my part in the problem?!haha) but it's hard to not be in charge and control and I just don't know! haha

Making bread at Eardley's house

So we're having a big meeting Tuesday night at Joyce's house and see if we can come together and work on our YW program.

(There was a whole "thing" that happened awhile back with the older girls and they are truly shipwrecked right now. I think that is the bulk of the problem...not my girls or the younger girls...but the cancer from the older girls being out of sorts is working it's way to us).

So it's been kind of long week for a short week. But it's all good!

This week I'm planning to go to SLC and see my dad on Thursday/Friday. Maybe have a get-together Saturday with the Laurito bunch. Then Sunday is Sydney's homecoming from her mission. I'll go to Ogden and see that and have lunch. Then I'll hang out with Bryce&Marlee and Mo and Dallas & Kayla and kids until I come back on Tuesday with Bryce and Marlee for Turkey day. (I haven't told my boss yet! Hopefully he's cool!)  I wanted to work it out so I could be up there when you come back but it just wasn't jiving and I really needed to get up and see my Dad. Plus when you get back I knew you'd be super tired. So I'm sad I won't be there and look forward to when you come see us! It's been SO LONG!

And kind of fast too! I can't believe you'll be back in less than 2 weeks! What?!  YEAH!!!

Holly's coming over soon to hang out with me for a lil bit this afternoon. And I got to let everyone know I'm planning to come up and work out the details on all that. So lots to do!

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
