08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.

We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)

Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha

BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?!

On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!

We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.

About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possibly have the beginning of the red rashes (which by the way came and went over the next couple of days but turned out not to be a factor).

He was sleeping but kind of restless. I waiting 1/2 hr and took his temperature again. 100.9. I woke him up and said, we need to go in. He was resistant but agreed. When he arrived his temp was still climbing and he was feeling bad.

They performed so many tests on him. Then they gave him anti nausea meds, saline and pain meds. They then left us alone for about 2 hours for the tests to come back. When they returned, they said he had COVID.

The way I figure he was on about day 7 of the usual 10...but why the heck did he spike a fever after not having one the first week?  Who knows!

But this was actually a lot easier to battle than the past cellulitis/sepsis illnesses.

I'm happy to report that he felt better within a couple of days.

(He had a colonoscopy scheduled for Thursday - which they made him postpone - so NEXT Thursday that will be on the calendar!)

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

10/10/95 Journal Entry - Still no house!!!! But feeling blessed

10/10/95 Still no house - maybe this week.  Haha. Money ran out of the last issue on the people right before us.  More money may come in at a lower rate.  We'll have to see. Dallas is really growing up in a hurry. He is crawling very well on his knees, standing up on things and moving while holding furniture.  He's been really fussy this past week.  Maybe a cold or teeth.  I don't know.  I held him on the coucn all night Saturday. he is really a mama's boy and cries when I leave or come in the room. AJ is also growing up fast.  He's so independent.  He knows what he wants and often gets it.  Saturday Gma and Gpa Griffin were leaving to go home and Aj said, "Where are you going?". Grandma says, "Home to Salt Lake City."  AJ says, "Ok, just a minute I'll get my shoes on!" He is a really good looking little boy.  I sure am lucky to have such a neat family. Andy's been busy training Dean Rock.  Last two weeks he do...
