08/01/86 Vendredi (Friday) Hanging with Jerome

Day 40
Yes, I really  made it to Aout! A month and two weeks has just slipped past me.  I've been reading some of the things I wrote and it is wierd how changeable my feelings are.  One minute I like it, the next I don't!  It is true that I have enjoyed this week even though not much has been happening.

Perhaps I just have to play mind games with myself and make myself enjoy this, ya know?

We went to Jerome's house and I played ping pone (he won of course) then looked at a book and he gave me some stamps while we listened to music.  It was fun.  It is probably the last I will see him.  In 4 days he leaves.  I even explained something in French and he understood.  It is kind of like a puzzle figuring out how to say things in French.  Sometimes it is fun to play with the puzzle and other times I just want to put it away.

I have also continued to get along with Colette.  It is nice.  Today is the day I told church I'd be back and still no call. I sure hope they decided to wait until tomorrow and haven't forgotten me.  I sent 8 letters and 2 post cards today.  The $ rate keeps going down so I don't know if it is wise to change my money before it goes down more or wait until it goes back up.  If it goes back up!

We had another great french pasterie for dinner tonight.  My diet will never work!  I'm staying a steady 62. (136 lbs)

When we go to Honfleur I'll probably gain even more because it is so great -- the food there I mean! This is awful.  I know exactly where I gained it - my gut and my butt.  Yuk! I feel so gross!

I got 2 letters today.  Sue Meltzer and Terry Williams -- filled me in on all the latest and greatest in all my favorite places - home, church, work and band.  I guess that's it.  I always make it from one day to the next wondering what will be in the mail. Only problem is I f=get real sad when there is no mail!  Isabel and Patricia came over for 1 hour.  They always make me remember the freedom I had to come and go as I please.  I miss home!

09/10/23 Hey, do you get to read letters on non-p day, p day?

First time trying a lime Pineapple was more pleasing than lime  Well...we went to Provo on Saturday and Sunday -- so your letter is a little later on Sunday than usual...but then I got to thinking...will you even get to see this before Thursday anyway?! So hopefully you're not sad that I'm late and all is well in CHILE.  It's a rainy sabbath here...which is weird cause we rarely get rain. But it is drizzly and rainy and our ride home was beautiful for 2 hours, raining for 1 1/2 hours, and then pretty good the rest of the way.  Let's see...what happened this week...Monday was Labor Day...so we had a day off work. Yeah!!!  We didn't have anywhere we needed to go and planned to have a quiet Monday but first, we went to this store called Sheridan's that is super close to our house. And we found some wonderful outdoor patio furniture. It took us 3 trips to get it all home and all afternoon to unpack and assemble it. So at 5:30, we were just finishing and kinda tired

10/15/23 Last Letter!

Hey! Can you believe it?!  It's your last letter from home!!! This time next week you'll be one tired Hermana sitting in my kitchen with me!!!  What a week!  Monday was Columbus Day - so everybody had to work ('cept me!!!!) haha I stayed home and worked on projects. I took your car to the tire shop and had the tires inflated and then to Walmart and got an oil change then to the car wash and got the shebang inside and out and then brought it home and scrubbed it for a couple more hours. Wow, it was dirty and still isn't great! haha.  I also cleaned the pool and worked on the yard a bit and I don't even remember what else. I just remember I was super tired by day's end!  On Tuesday Emmalee came over and did Holly's hair and makeup. She looked really pretty. Afterward, we went to the Covington Home to take pictures. And the funny thing...it was decked out in Halloween decorations. NOOOOO!!!! So we found some areas and took some pictures and I think we got a c

11/09/24 The temple

St George Temple This morning I woke up early and continued to read "Your Endowment", a book Grandma Griffin gave me several years ago but that I never read cover to cover. It is of course, about the temple and the meaning behind the endowment and the other things we learn about in the temple. I'll be honest, a lot of it feels "over my head".  I am seeking to learn and know and understand more but I don't have a thorough understanding at this time.  Kathy and Steve Spring Yesterday I went to visit Kathy Spring. She worked at Washington City for many years and retired almost 3 years ago. We were good friends and she helped me in the court for quite awhile. Her husband died in January of 2020...looking back she is convinced it was covid but it was just before covid really became a thing. So it's not official. In about a years time she lost her Dad, her husband, her son and a grandson. Life was pretty rough when we were friends back then and I could see the
