08/25/86 Lundi (Monday) D'Orientation

Day 64
I am so glad to finally be gone. This morning was really easy.  Got showered and ate and at 11 we left.  I was scared coming to Montparnasse because Colette was driving like a maniac again.  We arrived and parked and carted luggage forever.  We found AFS and parked the luggage and then went for lunch.

When we said goodbye it was so fake - more like a relief for both of us than anything.

Today has been slow.

We are all grouped and waited for the bus then waited for our rooms then waited for orientation.

Everybody is beat.

It should go faster but even if it doesn't I am juts so happy to be away from Colette.

Tonya and I are in the same group. That's good!

Dinner was fun!  I sat with Tonya and Samantha. Everybody has been sitting around chatting about their summer.

I feel cheated because everybody else had help with French.  Some people had as hard a time staying as I did too.  Fred said I could call him and had my house changed but ??  I guess I can look back and say it was good but I miss--- no I'm mad  because I didn't pick up French.  i really wish I had a real family.  I am so upset that I didn't get a true french experience.  Oh well.
Bon Soir.

06/14/25 Pre-Yellowstone

Last year for Christmas I purchased a vacation to Yellowstone for the kids and us. The dates for the Yellowstone cabin were June 16-June 20. We decided to break the trip up a little and drive up the weekend before and drive home the weekend after. Also, because Katie got married, and Dallas has limited time off, he was unable to take his family on the trip. We stayed at his house and got some twin time in before we continued north.  Aspen and John moved to Pennsylvania and are in Utah for the summer. On our way up north we stopped at Becky's house to see them and their sweet new baby.  Erik recently got a new job so he was also not able to join us on our trip. Holly became our little girl again and traveled with us.  Holly and Millie My dad's been in the care center so we stopped by to visit him. He's being well cared for. He is struggling to put sentences together. We came and went to church with him at the care center. He's been asking for a really good pizza. So we w...

06/16/25-06/20/25 Yellowstone

We had a really great week on our Yellowstone trip. We stayed at a VRBO cabin in a remote cabin in Ashton, Idaho. It was just right for our group. We were able to go to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Mesa Falls, the Yellowstone Playhouse, Lava Hot Springs Pools and Slides.  We drove lots, played games, did puzzles, roasted hot dogs, made s'mores, enjoyed picnic lunches, ice cream at the frost top, dinners together made by each lil family and so much more.  Loved it! (There are lots more pictures in our shared Yellowstone google album. Also, these pictures are not in order of happening. )

08/20/25 Max out of pocket reached early again...hospital here we come

As is customary, within 7-10 days from returning from a trip we go to the hospital.  We stayed out of the ocean -- while we were in the Bahamas -- in order to keep Andy healthy. (We have determined that he has been getting infections through his swollen legs or cuts on his feet.)  Andy did not get infection from being naughty! haha BUT he somehow picked up COVID!  What the heck?! On Sunday last week (Aug 10) he started having a scratchy throat, voice. It got worse and most of last week he had laryngitis.  That resolved itself and he was feeling pretty fine. We had a full Wednesday. Around 9 p.m. he said he was feeling a little funky/woozy, whatever. Off?!   We went to bed and his temperature reading was still below normal but he was having body aches and shivering. We tried to sleep but he was clearly in pain and tossing and turning.  About 1:00 a.m. I got up and checked his temperature...100. Hmm. I looked at his legs and it looked like he might possi...
